seriously i've used the soak in cup of water overnight method then transfered to wet warm paper towel in plastic baggy with no failures
yep, best thing to do is make sure they have cracked out their baby root B4 planting them.. i start garden veggies in late winter, and do the same thing.. germ til they crack, THEN plant them.. never had issues doing it this way..
the process goes A LOT FASTER this way too.. or so it seems..

exactly the only issue i ever ran in the process was breaking the root tip while fumbling away with planting. Even then that only happened once! :wall:

ok guys i ordered from attaitude a few times and i never have a problem germing theyre seeds soak for 6-8 hours in water and right in a wet paper towel and into the dark and with a heater on them they always crack in 24 hours or less so i think that rapid rooter is no good for seeds and they need darkness to germ not light ive ordered about 15 and all 15 cracked from various breeders i think that method is no good the good old wet paper towel and darkness is the way to go!!

i have also used rapid rooter but it seems as if there are many fans of other products than "rapid rooter". i have since reordered and going with peat pellets. they always work. we'll see what happens next. im beginning to wonder about attitudes products, as others of the same breed from diff. websites work 100% unlike attitudes

i use a tweezers. i have read to avoid touching any seeds with your bare hands if they have cracked.. idk if touching can contaminate or what, but once i see root, i pluck the babies out with the tweezers :p

ive had terrible times germing, had some just pop out ready to go, then 2 batches in a row never came up i was pissed so i wasnt taking no chances when I got the Subcool jack the ripper seeds

followed his advice i got rapid rooters soaked them with distilled water from the pharmacy and they came up like daisies

I think your problem may lie with the heating mat

i think its better without one. just have some lights hi above them keeping them warm

also to test this theory here is the question:

were the seeds that sprouted in tottaly random spots or did they sprout in an area that might of had less heat on it from the heating mat?

also did you use distilled water?

also maybe it was too cold or somthing like that when your batch shipped causing them to spoil?

did the ones that sprout all come from the same strain or were the sprouted seeds all random as far as strain?

all diff. strains and also all in diff. locations. so you think if the ambient temp. in the room is 70-80 and there's t5's right above them and i use distilled water, they should be good to go. i was seriously pissed with all the bad one's. like they popped then went no further, i dunno. guess ill try no heating mat
