shit really? i always thought they just did it lol i always hear the police chopper flying overhead, well not always but usually once or twice a week and that's as long as i can remember, like pre growing etc. if that's true ninj i'm gonna sleep a lot easier man lol can ya just see me in my lil bed freakin out every time they go over, PARANOID
Haha, i used 2 get hell paranoid aswell, but i just looked @ it rationally.. I use a 1000W light, and my grow room temp averages 24-27 degrees. So the infrared camera sure as shit cant c that as it cant c me n my body temp is 38 (normal personn is 36.5, but i like to think im just that little bit hotter, lol).
I dont vent my exhaust straight outside anyway, it goes in2 my roof where the heat has a chance to dissipate. If anything i think it may raise the temp of my overall roof by 1-2 degrees (which is not going to show up on a summer day anyway). Even in winter if it raised my roof temp by 1-2 degrees it wouldnt b enough to red-flag me. I have looked through thermal gear, and it does not show ur heat as glowing red.. It comes up as 'White Heat' on a black background.
In the case of you and I, the equipment we use wud only take us to a slightly lighter shade of black. It takes alot of grow lights and ballasts running constantly to change the temperature enough to be noticed.

Cud u imagine if our grow lights where enough for them to notice? It wud mean that hair dryers, clothes dryers, heaters, and the oven would all be enough to set them off, and if they investigated every time they got that sort of heat reading off a house then they wud be kicking doors in only to find some1 standing there in thier birthday suit, waiting for their clothes to dry, or give poor old Nan a heart-attack whilst she cooked her Sunday Roast..

yeah i have quite a few friends who dont like it, most of whom i have seen smoke it, trying to get into it....but it just doesn't work for them. and that's fair enough. i personally only drink maybe twice a year - if that! i drank my way through the uk when i was younger and now i genuinely just don't enjoy it.

Hey All! First off i gotta say thank fuck the cricket is on and i got a stick to myself coz ive just finished reading ALL 60 pages of this thread at 3.30am! Im from SW Sydney and im about to embark on my first grow. Im not working and have an inventive and perfectionist personality so to keep my brain busy im building my own designed stealth grow hydro closet. I have done ALOT of research into pretty much every different hydro setup or style i could find and have picked out all the best bits for my own needs. my aim is to ultimately run a fully sealed optimum controlled environment in a small enclosure wired up to be self maintaining. its not as complicated as it sounds but will involve alot of tinkering and an expansion of my eletrical engineering skills as i cant find anything i want to my scale so im gonna design something myself. its biggest plus in terms of heat control and power use will be ive made my own highpowered led lightboard (i know you will all want to tell me why im better off using hid) but it is the challenge of making them work and showing off my results that drives me. My sister has my camera so no pics yet but ill start a thread for it all and put up a link when its done. starting with a couple of clones (no idea about strains) from a mate for my first trial run and will see from there. cheers!

there ARE and have been talks in nsw about the med marijuana use nd i say within 5-10 years if not sooner we will be in the same state as he us. the uk have made seed sales legal over there an we normally follow suit as we are part of the commenwealth. Australian common law was based on english comon law and we have operated under the commonwealth australia constitution act 1900. any way not totalyy up on the complete story but its cause we part of the queen, until we break away (which wont happen) it can NEVER be legalised only decriminalized.

Peter Patmore, Attorney General of the Australian state of Tasmania, said last week that he favors a policy under which personal possession of cannabis would be legal. He called for public discussion of the issue so that a consensus could be reached before legislation is introduced, hopefully next year. "My views on the issue are quite clear" he told The Examiner, an Australian newspaper. "Prohibition doesn't work, but there is no use having a debate which splits the community. We actually have more lenient laws in Tasmania on marijuana than in some other states, and if I can show the public a sensible approach to legal personal usage, where precious police time is not wasted, and otherwise law abiding citizens are not lumped with a criminal record, then we can take the next step."

oh and as far as choppers and FLIR being used to detect high heat outputs etc, they are meant to get a warrent but they dont always, so dont rely that they will duct under the house if possible NEVER out a open window. and heat in a shed in summer will be killer, even running lights of a night u will need a air con for the day to keep dark temps under 20-15 deg c. just what i've found on experience. Tin sheds suck!

here is more on australian hrowing and plant numbers that are considered to much,

In comparison, Victoria defines a trafficable offence as a person having 10 or more plants, while in Tasmania it is softer than that, with the bar set at 20. Western Australia sets 10 plants as the point at which the presumption is that the person is a supplier. New South Wales, the Northern Territory and the ACT are tougher in this regard, with five being the magic number for New South Wales and the Northern Territory, while in the ACT it is one plant if the cultivation is artificial and three if it is natural (whatever that might mean).

here is the full link if any one wants a read.

http://sa.democrats.org.au/html/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=1251

this i though was interesteing aswell, note tas is only a fine, and qld is only 500g of matter and jail 15years !! fuck me i'm not gonna ever live in Qld

So, in terms of the numbers of plants, it seems to me that South Australia is on par with Victoria and Western Australia, twice as tough as Tasmania, half as tough as New South Wales and the Northern Territory, and only 5 per cent to 10 per cent as tough as the ACT.

The real difference appears to be in relation to what the penalty is when the defined number of plants is reached. In New South Wales an offender could be fined up to $2 200 and/or imprisoned for up to two years; for Victoria it is $2 150 and/or up to one year in prison; for Western Australia it is up to $2 000 and/or imprisonment for up to two years; for Tasmania it is a fine of up to $5 000; for the Northern Territory it is a similar amount, but also including an option of imprisonment for up to two years; and for the ACT the fine is up to $2 000 and/or two years in prison. I have not included Queensland in that because it does not quite compare apples with apples and simply refers to an `aggregate weight of more than 500 grams' rather than the number of plants and it does have an extreme penalty of up to 15 years' imprisonment.

hey bro u ever seen that show never get busted and there is a 2nd one called never get raided vol2 by barry cooper. he was a us dea agent that now bongs on he has some really good tips on there! get right into FLIRs powers and hat it can and cant see. FLIR is what teh cops use for heat thermal imaging. It cnt see through walls or any thing like that . it just picks up large heat sources. yes it would pic up a hair drier if it was blown towards the dector say out a window, or cavity. I highly reccommend it if u have not seen.

Yeah ive seen it. I meant in a normal circumstance, that FLIR cud not pick up the heat.
I dont hav a link 4u, but only know it was by National Geographic and it's called 'SuperWeed' and they look @ growing right around the world & crap on about wat an epidemic Weed has become. They do some work with heat cameras, and it is just a very good watch also.

As for the plant numbers and weight.. Im not sure about other states, but iv had a mate done in nsw with 6 plants and to determine the 'Street Value' of his Heinous Crime they actually weighed the plants and put a value of $25 per gram.. Who the F*ck pays $25 a gram, not to mention that this was the wight of the entire plant WET, nobody buys stem or leaf, but they weighed it.. As it's illegal to cultivate 'Marijuana' - not just grow Buds..

So what happened to ur buddy?
These stories of laws are makin me and my 15 plants nervous,i thought they were a bit more lenient in NSW.

What could i expect if i was caught with 15 plants?? (i dont have a record of any sort).
