cool stuff FlatTopBud! which aquarium lights are you using? I'm familiar with all the aquarium bulbs being discussed in pr0f's thread... Looks like you're all set! subbed up

Nice setup Flat. I was thinking about adding supplemental CFL's in my room as well, where do you find those hanging cord outlets? Thanks -

VitaLume plus, works wonders on my coral/salt tank. and has grown some fat buds for me in the past.

this light is from a someones lamp, for a while when i saw a lamp on the road i stopped my truck and harvested the light socket. its not hard to end up with a couple dozen, especially if you live in a college town.

hahaha ya all you have to do is think about a panel that isnt Spectra, Advanced, Progrow or Calilight, and you will instantly get 10+ posts about how stupid you are that you even still call it a 240, that HID is actually so much better than LED that you might as well just grind up your seeds and smoke them rather than grow with LEDs lol.

Most of the legit sounding journals I have read have pretty positive reviews for the Blackstar, even if it only pulls 140-150w. Anyway, looking forward to it!

I agree, a lot of good journals about the blackstar lights, and the price is hard to pass up. This journal will be fun, and I look forward to the results.

Just out of my own pure ignorance, why do they call it the blackstar 240?

I know the spectra like the one i have doesn't mean numbers=wattage, so not sure why mine was originally named somewhat wrong either. Were our respective companies simply doing a rough estimate based on number of chipsets and fans?

80 LEDs X 3W LEDs = 240 Blackstar

not that big a crime if you ask me... but whatever! lol we get hung up on all sorts of things, I'm just as guilty as the next guy so... /shrug

Blackstar 240s have served me well

Ah. that makes sense.

Most people should know by now that a (for example) 3w led loses a lot of efficiency, life, and alters spectrum when driven at the full 3w, so hopefully people dont bring that complaint in here.

For the money those lights seem to win out a lot. That light plus some Autos, thats just free bud there :p. of coarse its all money in the end, but hey its a great way to go :)
