auto- flowering questions

my auto- flowering Jedi og is under a 18-6 schedule in with my five other non- AF plants all about 6 weeks into veg.

what is the difference between AF and regular plants? I notice the Jedi is a lot smaller but looks the healthiest and most lush.

does auto flower need the same light schedule all the way through?

it has the most pistilils and calyxs and is the stinkiest

Autos have a lifespan, from seed to harvest of 8-10 weeks.

You say you're working with an 18/6 lighting schedule.

If you can, let the lights go 24/7.

Because their lifespan is so short, the more light you can give them, the bigger they'll finish. They're obviously super-small to begin with, so giving them 24 hours of light will give the plant the best chance it genetically can to get as big as it can.

what do you mean a life span? I have LST`d it and there are a bunch of bud sites, but it doesn't really have any buds on it. it has a clusters here and there. you saying it's gonna be done in a month? would the LST have slowed it down due to the redistribution of growth?

Hey Renegade, ur doing the correct thing with the LST, u dont want to cause any undo stress to the autos because of their short life span, so dont top, just LST.. With autos it all depends what variety for the light, some do better with 24/7, & some do better with 20/4, I have tried 12/12 & some at 18/6 & if u dont care about the electric then go 24/7. If u have tiny buds inside at the bottom then just pinch them off to help push more to ur prime buds.

What do I mean by life span? Did I stump you with that phrase? Thought it was fairly common. Life span means the entire existence of a plant, from germination to death/harvest. With autoflowering strains, their life span varies from 7-11 weeks, from seed germination to harvest...just like I wrote above. If you LST a plant to get new growth, in an already short life span, you're gonna have problems/delays.

I'm not sure how some autos would do 'better' with 18/6 over 24 hours light. Unless you have evidence to back that up that is. I've grown all kinds of autos, and i've never seen (or heard) that less light is better than constant light...all the way to harvest. The more light with autos, the bigger and more potent. Fact, based on lots of experience.

LSTing autos is not a good idea.

I have tried a few different things with my autos & wouldnt swear by anything, but Im lazy & leave my lights on 24/7, I did find that my bubblishes did better on a 20/4 schedule, & my blue himaylians that were females turned male if they wernt under 24/7, now they could have been bad seeds also... Im trying all different things because u just never know & it doesnt hurt to share it because it might help someone to not make the same mistakes, or help them share in the glory.. But I dont know anything, this is just what mine did..

I do 20/4 to b safe, read an auto experiment where 20 hours gave the max yield 24 and 18 gave about 90% compared and any less gave major drop in yield but different strains like different things.

Even though its an auto it still needs a brief period of rest, but u need to experiment & see, let ur plants talk to u & they will tell u what they need. The breeders tell u what u want to hear along with some of what they did..Ask alot of questions & document everything & learn from ur mistakes so u dont repeat them, & just cause it happened once doesnt mean its the gospel, cause the seed may have been the wrong kind (cause I believe they make mistakes & give the wrong seeds at times) & weather is not always the same.

thank you tyedye, you have been very helpful. would the LST have slowed down the "lifespan"'. my plant is still vegging and I don't want to flower as long as possible. it's still very small only about 5-6" tall but about 13" in length. I guess what I'm asking is what will happen if I keep giving it veg mites? and is there any way to tell when I should switch to flowering? it's six weeks old and still growing vertically very slowly

I just bought the clone and didn't know it was auto flowering, I just thought it was stressed and the same age as the mother for the first month

With autos u dont have any control over when it flowers, pretty much its flowering from about day one. As for the size, some autos dont get very tall, or big, I had some bubblegums yhay were fatter than tall.

Maybe slowed it down a week if that, i lst'd mine, id say it is around a week behind, but im also using cfl's so i cant say for sure since cfls are known to be a tad slower than the more powerfull lights.

Check out my autos, Im doing everything they say not to do & mine are just fine, Im using CFL's, MG & these ladies are beautiful & full of tight buds. I will put some new pics on just to show u.. I have always done my autos this way & have NO complaints, maybe I could get better or more using all the expensive dirt & ferts, & lights, but we will never know because Im not going to waste thousands of dollars to grow a few plants, I get lots of praise on my plants so I must b doing something rite
