Hello, I was wondering what your thoughts on this were.
I grow in a 'drobe in my garage in the uk. Its getting cold, and so my dark period temps are lower than ideal. (Curent grow - 3 x Afghan kush - WOS- under 250w envirolite and 42w of disco lights to mix up the spectrum, in soil - John innes no 2 with perlite) For my next grow, I'm going to go auto flower, as this will affect temps less.
Then I started thinking. What if I had the lights on for 50mins and off for 10 mins? Over 24 hrs it would still equate to a 20/4 split. I had heard that CFL's use more power on start up, or could this repeated swithching affect the bulbs length of life?
Or I could use a tubular heater during the dark phase, you can get 60w heaters from £10. HMMMM
What do you think?

Is the dark stage necessary in autos, or is it just that more than 20hrs does not increase yield and so is wasteful?
