hey kolorblind i got a question what light schedule did you use for the seedlings? cuz im about to start my grow and im germinating my seeds tomorrow i heard 20/4 was the best one for auto flowering

Heya ATC, sorry Ive been out of town and haven't been able to respond.

My first 2 batches they were on 20/4 every day, except for when I switched the mini fridge to 12/12 cuz I had some non AF plants in there I needed to sex.

This time around I have the seedlings on 24/0, and as soon as they show sex Ill probably go 20/4 till harvest. Im also starting them under the HPS this time and not CFLs like last time.

And yeah, the Joint Doctors recommend 18/6 or 20/4 but admit to getting better reports from growers using 20/4.

Hope that helped

i've gotten 2 oz monsters from diesel ryder, which is one of my fav strains on earth
Dont know how I missed that the first time I read it, but that is freakin awesome man!! I am all about keepin em small in the mini fridge, but I would LOVE to start a few and end them in my large fridge in 10 inch pots. What size pots were you using at the end, and were they soil or hydro??

I would LOVE to see some 2oz Diesels, got any pics?!?!

Peace

Not at all man, I wouldnt have made an account if I wasnt up for sharing what I've learned!

For soil I have just been using about a 5gal bucket full of Sunshine Mix (no nutrients in the mix) and I add 1cup of blood meal (nitrogen) and some extra perlite till I repot them. When repotting (just after they show sex) I use no more blood meal but I mix 1.5 cups of bone meal (Phosphorus) instead.

As far as other nutes go, I started giving them 1-2 tablespoons of molasses per gallon every other watering at like one week old till a week before harvest. At 2 weeks all of mine had shown sex amazingly and I just put them on 10-15-10 Schultz plant food at 2 droppers full (14 drops) per gallon every other watering, along with the molasses. I always fed all nutes together, so that every other watering they get a nice clean flush of water only.

Just dont go overboard with the nutes, its better to use none and get bud, as opposed to frying them with too much. Just keep that in mind when using it and it will help you remember to go sparingly. When first adding, I recommend using 1/4 the amount the box says, then work your way to 1/2.

Sometimes I use superthrive early on, I hear its not great for flowering but dont know for sure. Its just such strong stuff Im always afraid Ill tip the bottle too much haha! Plus it's not really a nutrient, but its supposed to make your plants absorb nutrients better.

I was, and to some extent still am on a budget when planning for my grows. Not only that but I do not order off the internet if I dont have too. Pretty much everything Im using can be found at walmart, home depot, any local hardware store, & craigslist :P

A also tried Alaska Fish Emulsion (5-1-1) sold at walmart for the veg phase on my other non AF plants, and found that it worked very well. The only downside is that it smells like a bucket of fish guts that someone vomited and shat in, and I cant even hardly crack the bottle open without feeling queezy.

I need to get a better nute for bloom, all I use is that schultz 10-15-10 but it gave me pretty decent results :P Someone told me once that they use the cactus bloom plant food, but Id rather buy something made for fruit/bud bearing plants that dont grow in sand haha!

Good luck with whatever you choose!

I actually typed up a few paragraphs on this for a few people over on ICMag recently. I am no pro by any means but a few first time growers kept asking about watering and no one was answering so I stepped up with what Ive learned. Here is how it went:

"One quick note on watering for some fellow noobies.

Im sure most of you have read (hopefully) that watering based on the weight of your container is the best way to do it. Well I have news for you, that information is 110% RIGHT! After buying 3 different moisture/ph/light meters, attempting a set schedule, etc. I have found that the truly easiest and most efficient method is definitely the method mentioned above, which most veterans use (which should tell you right away it works).

For anyone who doesn't quite understand the concept, I feel your pain and I have a couple tips. First off, always, ALWAYS add water until it comes out through the drain holes. It is virtually impossible to over water your plants in one sitting. Over watering occurs when you water too often, not by using too much water. I usually pour as much water through the pots as they would hold if there were no holes (1gal water for a 1gal pot, etc.), and if I need to flush I use 3x that amount of water. This way, all the soil gets completely saturated and the pot will feel much heavier than it looks. Then, after a couple days or so when you can pick the pot up and think "wow I thought it was going to be heavier than that", its time to water.

I do not even think about how often I water, or try to remember the last time I did. I simply pick up my babies every day, and if they dont feel light enough I wait longer. After a few times of doing this it will be very obvious to you when the pots are light enough.

Im no pro, but I see a lot of people making the mistake of trying to use X amount of water every X days, when really its more simple than that. Give the plants all the water the soil can hold, and dont give them anymore till they've used it all up. I have not had any over or under watering problems since I adopted this method, and all my fancy meters (that dont work for crap) are collecting dust.

Hope that helps someone, and if I am wrong in any way or if anyone has a more preferred method feel free to add that. I just hate to see people abusing their plants without even knowing it, I find most noobs are VERY nervous about over watering, as I was for a while. "

Peace

Great info KB, i couldn't have said it better myself...i've been using that method for years with great results...and Plat, for the first time this grow i'm trying the Moonshine Man soil mix, i learned bout it over at ICmag, there's a thread bout hundred pages long on it....it's totally organic and you don't have to feed your plants any nutes...the soil is so rich that it feeds them till flowering, when you can add some organic ammendments...the mix consists of 1 bag ocean forest, 1 bag light warrior, and 1 bag planting mix, all fox farms, then a ton of perlite, i used two 5 gal buckets full....my plants are lovin this mix and i haven't used any nutes yet, just water and some molasses...since i'm in flowering now i may add a bit of Big Bloom, since it's organic....it makes growing seem really easy...no worrying bout ph, ppms and all that shit....just water and go, ahhaha....here's those pics i promised, diesel ryder, 2 grows ago, pure ocean forest and perlite, all fox farm nutes, and finished in 3 gal grow bag...
enjoy:bigjoint:

phew took me awhile to read the whole thread! subscribed of course

I just ordered 3 feminized seeds of AK x LR2 from attitude, well I ordered a week ago and they were delivered to my buddies house today. Didn't want to use my shipping address for the first time. I noticed that there is a huge variation on how dense and how tall these autoflowers can get...will nutes along with scotts potting soil stabilize the plants to be somewhat similar?
