Autopot & Medium

I am getting ready to start on my first ever autopot grow with a 1 pot system. I'm currently in a solo cup now with Coco Loco as my medium. I didn't realize Coco Loco was more like soil than pure Coco coir/perlite mix that I was going for.

My question is: when I'm ready to pot up into the autopot system from the solocup, can I switch the medium in the autopot to be 60/40 coco coir/perlite? Even though I started with Coco Loco? Reason I'd rather use coco/perlite is because most of autopot reviews I've read say that medium does better than using soil. I'm in a 3x3x6 tent with a HLG 300L LED. I also plan to use Biotabs as my nutrients.

I don’t see why not. The roots will keep growing in search of water regardless of changing soil type

I’m also about to start with an autopot grow for my first time also, however my kit came missing some components such as the 1/2 tubing and fittings to connect to the 100l tank.

Dang! Sorry to hear that. You can buy the tubing for sure at Lowes for next to nothing. I think you could probably find the other components there as well.

Hey i figured your through your grow by now but I use autopots with wonderful success with coco loco. I just add an additional 30% perlite to the mix and of course a couple inches of hydroton on the bottom. Good luck!

Also I've used soil and planted that in the coco to answer your other question, no issues what so ever.

Also a fiy, I did this last grow with 1 of the 5 pots in my 4x4 filled with pure coco and perlite 50/50 and the rest with coco loco. I found the coco loco did better as they had a bigger jump start in veg. Coco loco isnt inert like coco is so the bat guano and everything else was fantastic the first couple weeks of veg as they could take just straight water. Also no need to wash coco loco, its ready to rock outta the bag. For the entire cost of doing (5) 5 gallon smart pots in my autopots of $50.00 I'm fine spending that money as it returns 1.5 pounds every 3 months. small cost for success. Good luck, also wondering if any other autopot users are taking advantage of coco loco.

Also just to help, I've found the sogum soil to be the best to transplant into before they get planted in the smart pots. The sogum is so light and fluffy that it has a similar capillary action to coco loco or pure coco.

Alot of people have better success without the Hydroton in the bottom. Myself i don't use it either and i have zero problems in coco.

also your right in that coco loco isn't pure coco. But I treat it the same with the exception of p.h. I swing between 6.1 and 6.4 opposed to a typical coco grow at 5.8. I use advanced nutrients coco grow line and their additives.
