AutoPots: Soil, Maybe Amended with Coco? Megacrop with Drip Clean in Res?

Hello,

Very close to buying an AutoPot system for my 30x24x69” tent. Thinking two 2.2 gallon 1Pot systems.

Had a question about the grow medium. I want to use soil since I like organic feeding and not needing to pH my water. Can I use that in AutoPots successfully? I would use drip clean and green leaf nutrients line products.

Also how does the idea of me amending my home made super soil mix with 5-15% coco? I want to add some extra aeration and water retention with some coco while maintaining the overall qualities of organic soil

Please let me know about these, thank you in advance

I would consult autopot in terms of if they can be used with soil. I don't think they are specific to any particular medium.

As to the addition of coco, I would leave it out. There are too many crash and burn posts posted here all because someone thought the idea of mixing the coco with their soil would be good. They (soil and coco) operate at different pH's when it comes to growing and they prefer different techniques. If you're looking to add aeration and water retention (Not sure this is a good idea...cannabis likes well drained soil), I would add perlite (aeration) and vermiculite (water retention). Good luck.

They suggest using clay balls or washed rocks in the bottom of the pots and then a "light aerated media" which I would personally imagine using something like Sunshine Advanced Mix #4 or any Coco/Perlite mix pre-bagged ready to go.

How has this worked out? Also why do the 2.2 gallon pots instead of the 6.6? You could get a lot more real estate with the bigger pots and also better yield undoubtedly.
