Bad EB Strip?

I think you hit the nail on the head. The screw shorted those two traces together. Use plastic/fiber washers under those screws to prevent that.

How the hell do you find the correct drivers on Digikey. They don't seem to have anything for driving big cobs.

What I'm seeing is mounting holes only on one side of the strips. Do the board islands match this?
Mine will be here later this week but it is what I've planned my mounting strategy around.
The notches are??? optic connectors of some kind???

You have 6 mounting holes on one side, and 4 mounting holes on the other side (like on arrow 2). They all have a diameter of 4.3mm. The 4x 4.5mm holes are for the purpose of mountin some lenses, like http://www.ledil.com/lett/2d_datasheet/fa8b88-804a6b-F15216_FLORENCE-1R-GC-Z90_Datasheet.pdf

Edit: Here you see the backside, now it should be clear, where you can mount, and where it seems like, that you shouldn't ^^

That's so very helpful, a level of detail the data sheets don't have.
Go back to post #1 and look how the strips are mounted.
Remount the strips with proper screw placements and all should BEE fine...

Glad I never used that hole, never even thought about a possible short out scenario.....I just finally started bolting strips down after I was satisfied with prototype #7(maybe ...lol

Thanks everyone (and sorry for the slow response) -- I agree, that makes a lot of sense, and sounds like the most reasonable explanation. I tried to be gentle with the screws, but I guess I wasn't gentle enough. I've got them installed in the tent now; would you say "aint't broke, so don't fix it" or would you say they should be redone as a safety precaution? Thanks.
