Bag Seed Never Sprout?

Hey,

I was wondering if its maybe just me, but does anyone else's bag seed never sprout? I have tried about 15 of them, and not once have they sprouted. I started with the average simple germination method, then I moved on to a "fool proof" system. I took a heating pad for reptile cages, insulated it so the heats not too hot, put a jar with moist paper towels and seeds ontop of the pad, seal it so its air tight and wait a few days. Every time, not a sprout, not even a crack.

So I am wondering (and kinda assuming) are the seeds I am finding just crappy? They seem small, and are beige color.

Id love to just see one of them sprout one of these days...

I've tried to germinate (just for kicks) as many as 20 bagseeds at a time and never got a sprout. They are just dead seeds. To me, if I'm going to bust my butt (and I do) to grow a plant and grow it right, I want to start with the best. So I buy good seeds and consider it the best investment in the whole process.

To me it sounds like it's the seeds your trying. Little beige ones will probably never grow. They should be brown and have stipes for the best results.

I used to have problems with germinating seeds with the paper towel method. It never worked for me but now i dont have any problems they almost always sprout. All i do is soak the seeds in some water for 24-36 hours. they should sink to the bottom. Then i just plant them straight into the soil an inch to a half inch down, and in 3-4 days the usually sprout.

Thanks for all the replys guys.

Yea I know theres lots of successful bag seed grows, I guess its just the seeds I get. I rarley come across any bag seeds, but the ones I do are just shitty seeds it seems. I guess I can't really be complaining casue I only seem to get weed with seeds once or twice a year. Gotta love Canada :D

Oh and greenisthecolor, those look like some nice little sprouts, best of luck to you. AND cph, those buds make me drool, they look awesome. Take it you haven't tested any of it out yet?

Hmm, I thought seeds needed some air to sprout, so it might be that you're sealing them in an airtight container. Next time try it with the lid off the jar and see if that works. Also make sure you're picking only the best looking seeds from the bag. You don't want the little white ones that will squish between your fingers. Look for nice, plump, dark seeds and give them a light squeeze between your thumb and forefinger. If they seem to have any "give" to them or crush easily, don't plant them =)

Word. Im just starting as well. But i got 100% of the seeds to sprout. I put them in a cup of water for 24 hours or so. Then wrap them up in a wet paper towel, and shove them into a camera film canister (old school). Carry it around with you wherever you go in your pocket. (Keep your girls warm). When you cant bring them, just shove them under your covers. Sprouts should be in a few days and will be an inch or so long!
Hope this helps.
