What is this supposed to accomplish? And I'm not being a smartass, I'm really interested.

Apparently if you tie up the top section for 8 hours or so, the plant starts to concentrate on the lower branches and they will grow out from under the top canopy. We shall see....

Interesting. What's the science behind it? That top shoot should still have dominance, no? How does this disrupt auxins?

I would think that it would take longer then 8 hours, based on my supercropping sometimes bounces back within one light cycle. I am curious to see the results but if they dont work maybe try a couple of days.

The video said try it for three or four days. I'll give it a try and see.

i wish the video had some after shots, I guess I am going to try it with one of mine in veg. I do trust this grower, I have seen some of his videos in the past.

LOL $900 is a cheap light....

I still don't see how it works. All LST methods I can think of pull the apically dominant shoot down below the top plane of the plant in order to cause auxin redistribution, that's why side branches start growing like tops. This method shouldn't disrupt that.

I don't think this method is so much about disrupting auxins, it is about simply providing more light to shaded areas of the plant. Just my two-cents after knowing about this for an entire two days.

This morning before work I untied the top and it looked fine. I just went back in and tied her up again. Maybe tomorrow night will be the last one before letting it go.

I did it with my dark Devils based on neil from growpotcheaply on YouTube and I have to say it did help my autos bush out from below. I haven't got a Christmas tree at all looks more like a topped or FIM'd plant? I had to resort to super cropping due to height otherwise I'd show you pictures.

Edit: just noticed the above video was actually Neil's haha. Yeah man the guy talks a lot and comes across arrogant but I think he has his methods down and is a decent guy. A good businessman gives away good advice for free to secure deals in the future and that's what he's doing with his whole YouTube channel. Good on him.
