baking your dirt....

This may be a strange question but... If you have access to a large amount of soil that is in its natural habitat outside and it is really really good looking and feeling soil could you bake it in the oven in large baking pans at say 400 degrees to kill the bugs and bug larvae that may be in the soil? if you did this what would happen to the nutes that are in the soil? would it provide you with a "clean slate" to add your own nutes to without buying soil or would the nutes remain?

haha im not going to bake my soil... was just a question i had, got any answers? i think i may do an experiment on this to find out what will actually happen... if it works out well i could have unlimited amounts of soil for nothing with no bugs and possibly if i can try it at different temperatures maybe i could get the nutes to remain while still killing the bugs... im willing to do any kind of research in the name of weed. trying to think outside the box and if i fail what happens? i used a couple bucks of electricity baking some dirt and had a good time! haha

You can bake soil to sterilize it. I am way too lazy to do that. I don't think baking will remove nutrients, after all you bake food in the oven at 400 deg.
