Ballast and Bulb Question

Greetings all! I am a first time grower, well I am going to be soon. I have a ANSI S106 ballast and a 600w hps bulb. Now I know not to put a higher watt bulb unless I get the ballast that can support it. My question is can I use a lower watt bulb in a ANSI S106 ballast?

I would like to add that I know if I had a ordinary household lamp that can hold a 100w bulb, can also use 65w bulbs. I'm mostly making sure I have no experience with this stuff and just never thought to ask upon purchase.

Yes, you can go down, but not up. Nothing will happen to the ballast. You might wear the bulb out a little quicker than normal, but who cares about that anyways. I do this all the time to conserve energy when they are small.

i will be honest with u i always thought about using lower bulb but in the end i never and went a brought the correct ballast. grows are steath and illegal in most countrys u dont need more shit to worry about like ya bulb burning out and catching fire just saying u dont need this shit lol but loads of people do it or depends circumstances i suppose but either way gd luck be safe :)
