Thanks. I actually left the ballast pulled in no bulb so it was running. When I went back down stairs it was still going. Leads me to think that it's the socket. I put the MH bulb back in and put the switch to 50%. Was still running a couple of hours later. Just moved it to 75 and I will know tomorrow if it stayed running when I check the ballast to see if it tripped. I have been having issue upon issue. Plants outside are small because we've had NOTHING BUT RAIN all summer anyone in Ontario will have to beware of Rot. Clones haven't rooted in months due to mold and damping off or something.Gotta say.....you've done some awesome troubleshooting already. Leaning towards a ballast problem here....but I would suggest unplugging everything and checking the cords/connections of the cord to the socket/etc. I've seen wires inside of reflector hoods get hot from the lamp itself and then the wire/cord itself gets brittle rather than flexible. When this happens it often leads to "problems". Just a thought.
wish I could think of something else....but these new fangled things heehhee...well...it isn't like the old days when a certain symptom meant >this part or that part< was bad. Now it's like..."WTF?"

The cord was hot to the extension cord. So I moved it. Still did it.
Ok I will try that. It's currently laying flat and inside the tent. Maybe it's running hot in there.
Yea, I had to ly mine on its side, on a piece of plywood outside the tent.. It also didn't really like MH bulbs too much.
