Ballast Silencing help!!!!

I actually ended up enclosing my ballast in a cardboard box and using two pc fans to vent it. I then placed this into a rubber maid container insulating it with old clothes. Ill get some pics up soon.
Sounds flammable.

But ya gotta admit, Buried in Dirt is safer than buried in a mountain of cloth wrapped in cardboard.

Serioulsy, people aren't joking when they say thats not the best idea. Ballasts get hot enough already, enclosing them and insulating is asking for trouble. I would at least try the the brick idea if you havn't yet. if thats really not doing it for ya, keep a close eye on your ballast and make sure its in a cool area so your fans can pull in colder air.

just line the rubbermaid with some thick foam you can get at home-depot if that dont work then i think its time for a new one.
