Hey Dayzt,

Loving the grow so far, really looking good for ya.

How tall are they are this point?

I've got two RD seedlings right now under my 400w MH. I just got to be able to keep them at about 36" or less. I plan on doing two different things to keep them kind of short. One is to top them. Next is to clone and then put the baby clones right into flowering without much veg time after I get them to root in soil. I will do some plants with more veg & more topping and others will just be young clones.

Do you think these two strategies will keep them from growing over three foot and into my light?

Hey there LGA! The girls are at around 3 ft right now and look to be stopped growing at this point and are concentratring on the buds which is what I want to see!

Topping the plants should work well to keep them down around 3 feet, and with a little LST after topping you should be fine... Check out the pics SodaR posted a page back in my journal. He kept his RD quite short I believe by using a screen and topping... correct me if i'm wrons SodaR.. =)

Here we are at the end of 4 weeks in flower. I had a few problems with over-nuting but I think the last straight watering has brought it back under control.

Enjoy this picture update! :leaf:

I just got my RD seeds in the mail last week. Going to be picking up some ingredients to make my soil mix today so I hope to have 'em in the soil by the weekend! Looking good as always, Dayzt! Can't wait to see the finished product.

Looking good. But keep the humidity down from here on out. A bit prone to rot at 40% and above. Really dense buds so keep it low and the last few weeks of flower keep the fans running around the clock and you should be fine. Just keep an eye on em. It will be the most wonderful bud you have ever smelled, smokes great also.

I'm also starting a Red Dragon soon :bigjoint:

What would you say the plant "liked" more, topping or LST?
That's actually a hard question to answer since my RD plants responded well to both methods. The topping gave me 6 tops, 4 of which are more dominant than the other 2 but overall they are coming along nicely. The LST'd plants responded well too, but I didn't tie them down more than once so it really only just gave me about 2-3 more tops but they are looking real nice too...

Thanks for the reply Dayzt, I think I'm going to try FIMing. I want to keep it relatively short so it doesn't overshadow the Snow White I'm growing with it. But I'm a little scared to try LST, haha this is my first grow.

But GREAT looking plants btw:clap: Im subscribed, can't wait to see the end result.

I changed my mind after going through your whole journal, :-P

I love how the ones you LST'd turned out, and they look shorter than the one you topped. But they all look great, crazy they're only in 4 weeks flowering, those babies are gonna YIELD :weed:

That's awesome grasskutter! If you could post some pics that would be cool! This is my first time flowering under the new 600w light, so i'm still kinda adjusting things in my tent to get the most out of my growspace. So far, so good - I check them extensively each day, so it's a bit harder to notice the progress unless I keep looking back at the pictures that were taken...lol. The way things look right now though, I think we're looking at about 4-5 oz dry, but you never know. The bagseed plant and the dreamtime plant look like they'll be done a week or two earlier, but I may just leaves them to harvest with the rest of them and just get the more 'couch-lock' effect from them.

The Dreamtime plant actually smells like grape right now...kinda strange, but nice! The RD plants are all starting to smell really sweet. The stems near the tops of the plants all give off a really sweet aroma when you touch them. :weed:

Hmmm....that's an interesting observation because I think the two that were LST'd actually ended up a bit taller than the topped one... the pics may be a bit deceiving in that sense. The LST'd plants were only tied down once and then the string was removed when they went into flower, so it really only saved me about 3-4" of height and the christmas-tree style returned on them quite dominantly. They have stronger tops as a result though, and more of them! The bottoms of the stem of all these plants are around an inch thick!

Hmm maybe I have them mixed up or like you said, the picture is deceiving in that sense. Is the one on the right the one you topped? That one seems taller than the other two. I want to keep mine less christmass tree style and more flat canopied, so what do you think I should do? Maybe top and LST? I don't know too much about training.

Sorry if i'm asking too much questions on your journal, its just nice to see someone whos done both topping and LST with red dragon, its hard to find much about this strain at all. And I dont wanna go messing anything up with this strain because I only have two seeds i'm really looking forward to the smoke :bigjoint: and the grow itself :D

Hey no problem man! The dragon in the front left is the topped one. It's propped up on a styrofoam block too, so it's definately shorter than the LST'd one to it's right...
