Just started a basement grow and I separated the basemnt into 2 with thick plastic sheeting, to keep everything contained.
My question is what are the pros and cons of separating my basement into 2, as opposed to just keeping it 1 room with only my crop in it?
Also will making a room like this help me raise my temps? Or lower them? I'm having trouble getting my temps out of the 60s and was wondering if I keep the basement totally open if my crop will get more heat or disparate it faster?

More room for heat = colder temps.

So by splitting the room you could make your temps go up and out the 60s, but since you used only plastic sheeting I don't think it would make a difference. Is your basement finished (with carpet and proper insulated walls)? Or is it just a concrete floor with 4 walls? Unless the plastic is secured everywhere to prevent heat escaping it makes no difference either. I highly doubt it is as how would you get to the other side if it was?

What was your intention with this? Just to raise temps? Or split the room so you could have one side for veg and the other for flowering? I'm in the same predicament as I am growing in a tent with a empty basement and I have no heating down there. I was told to put a mini oil heater in the tent with a thermostat to keep it at my desired temperature. I recommend you do the same as this is the only solution you really can do besides making a proper insulated small room in your basement.

The pros I see is you can have one for veg and the other for flowering, also you can control the temperature more (if you separate them properly with a wall and insulation). I don't see any cons in splitting a space as big as a basement.

If you are separating it into two parts for a vegetative room and a flowering room, I might suggest you make the veg room 1/4 the size of the flowering room. Otherwise you'll end up with a lot of extra space in your veg room and find your flowering room crowding from all of those plants.

As far as controlling the temperature, most basements are naturally insulated with thick walls of concrete, and if it's all underground, several tons of dirt. If you have enough lights on your plants a small heater should suffice.

How big is your basement? (measurements please)
How many plants are you hoping to grow in this space?
What kind of lights will you be using? A 1000w HPS produces enough heat of it's own to keep the temperature nearby the light pretty warm. Add mylar to this and it would be even warmer.

turn the hid lights on. it'll warm up. 2 rooms is better than one. cuz you can have a veg room if the plastic keeps out light. u might need a small heater for the veg room if you're not using hid lights. u can also use the veg room for cloning more plants. and lastly, get a green lightbulb for the flowering room. you might have to access it during the 12 hours when the lights are off.
