Okay, I've been using neem oil. the shit stinks and I hate it, and these things seem pretty resilliant towards it. It DOES seem to stave them off for about a day, but I have been considering white fly parasites

has anyone used these? am I trading bad for bad? I hate these cocksucker flies. I guess I should be thankful they are not spidermites though.

If it is indeed that you have pesky white flies, this is exactly what I do. White flies are attracted to the color yellow amongst some other bugs. I use those identification tags for plant containers that are yellow. Then I smear them with tanglefoot. They usually hibernate around the foliage but when they see the color yellow they fly towards it and wallah they are caught those dummies LoL. The reason why neem oil does not work too well with white flies as well as spray pesticides is when you mist they start to fly and evade the droplets.

Hey, thanks for the good advice. I did find some yellow sticky traps online specifically for whiteflies. I'm still concerned with the eggs, and did a little more research on these predators.

here's a link Encarsia formosa

pretty interesting, there are also predators for spider mites, little crab looking things that suck spider mites and their eggs dry, then when the mites are gone, the predators dissapear. *supposedly*

I almost want to try the predators as an experiment, but they are a bit pricey, I like the whole biological insect warfare thing, but I'm just not sure if I'm down with super tiny wasps floating around and landing in my ears/face. hah!

The white flies are almost cute, but their eggs disgust me. to hell with all of them.

I'm going to stock up on different insecticides, mosquito dunks... yellow sticky traps, foggers (that are safe to the plants). Nothing worse than a big beautiful plant all the sudden getting overrun by pests that stand to kill it.

Thanks CaliCat.

if anyone's interested in my shopping list, or links to predators or where you can buy them, let me know in this thread or message me.

Have you tried to cover the soil with sand to a depth of an inch, heard that really helps to get rid of em. Remove sand after 4 or 5 days.
