begginers asking for help.

yo, me an my friend r just starting to grow. we r doing it in his closet. we just want 1 or 2 plants and we want to know what we should do for lighting and when to do 12/12 and 18/6. what is a photoperiod an how long is it? also is tinfoil ok for reflecting light or is that bad? my friend thinks its good. i need sum good pointers for the small space im working with. thanks for any help.

1. 3-4 cfls would be ok for 1-2 plants in veg
2. no foil...just get some white poster boards
3. 12/12 whenever, but usually after 4 weeks of veg
4. 18/6 after first week of 24/0

the foil isnt a bad idea it is a good reflector but you might want to cover all the walls like i did, also as sunnyd said i would do it after about 4 weeks... what light are you using how many and what watt?

Sorry, but foil IS a bad idea. It doesn't reflect light evenly and causes hot spots. Flat white paint or mylar are much better options.

foil is a bad idea FLAT WHITE PAINT has way better reflecting

thanks for the help. we have a few plant growing lights with UV output but i plan on getting an hps and an mh. ill tell my friend to drop the foil. the walls in the closet r white anyway. i think for the strain im going with misty from the nirvana website, bc its short, good for beginners, and potent.

dont worry about the MH....just pick up a few 26w cool blue or daylight clfs....i have 4 on 5 of my plants and all are looking really healthy.

CFLZ are best for small grow and more energy efficent
