woke up this morning.. everything seems to be okay. didnt get time to check ph or anything but i get a break around 11 and 1 so i will go by and check on one of those trips.

put cardboard over the net cups but still looks like light is getting in res. could it just be since the light is lighting up everything around the set up it is looking like the light is getting in?? any other suggestions??

You should keep it about 12-18 inches away. Put your hand at the top of the plants and if it feels too warm on your hand then it probably will be for the plants too.

aight thanks. i have la diva which is an autoflower and lavender beans also and i think i might run one of those in soil or just in a 5gal bucket sog under the 150w. what would yeild the most and which strain should i use to get most production??

checked on other ladies lookin good just not getting tall starting to get alot of leaves but stay low to the top of the system. maybe the new light will change that.

also thinking about getting a grow tent. good or bad idea??

Grow tents are great IMO. Check out my grow (link in my sig) and you can see it is working for me. Also, it is good that your plants are short and bushy. That's exactly what you want and it means they are getting adequate light. If you want to have a second grow going, I would definitely recommend hydro. In fact, you could use the 150 watt for the flowering stage and the 400 watt in a grow tent for flowering. This way you could have a perpetual harvest going, and get fresh buds about every 2 weeks. Just an option.

that is a very good idea.. i would love to do that just dont know when i would sprout up others to get ready to throw in tent after harvest of ones already in tent.

lol.. i want a tent for light reasons but i also need to find a way to light proof the res.. since its a blue and the light shines around it 18 hours of the day the res seems to be lit up so i need to find something to wrap around that.

Those tents are 110% light proof. Here is my set up. Should be right up your alley.

flushed tank and scrubbed it out. washed all of the accessories inside of the tub off. 5 gal of water fill up. put two half caps of hydrogen peroxide to help roots. put 1/4 grow and hard water softener per gallon. dropped ph to 6.2 and that was reading 5min after nutes and ph down was put in. so in the morning i will check and lower a little bit more if needed. suposed to wait until 14 days but it was starting to feel slimy inside the tub so i did it before i let things get ruined.. let plants and roots air out for about 15min.

put the 400w light up about 18" from top of plants.

ordered a 4'(L)x2'(W)x5'(H) grow tent. need ideas about how to do the fan and what to buy for it.

if there are any suggestions please feel free to let say whatever it is you would like.

Did you get a Dark Room? Those have intake and exhaust ports which give you a lot of options for air cooling that light and running a carbon filter. I used soler palau 100 cfm to suck a 100 cfm carbon filter through a 250w hps. On top of that light I have a 85 CFM Radio Shack AC computer fan pulling heat from the light. Keeps my tent 76-80* with no air conditioning. Light is cool to the touch too. Just look at that pic I posted and you'll see what I'm talking about. You'd probably want a bigger CFM fan, S&P has a lot of options. The bigger the CFM fan the bigger CFM rating for the carbon filter you need though.

Amazon.com you can find combo deals for those S&P fans and CFs

Over half the nutrients available will stain roots brown.
The real test is the sniff or smell test.

In Hydro, good reservoir water smells like crisp lettuce or freash alflafa sprouts.
Bad water STINKS like a moldy floor mop.

Smell it and see.

so i went home and smelled the res.. its actually doesnt really have a smell.. ph is around 6.0 maybe a lil over im waiting on my digital ph reader to get here.

everythings actually looking good. i think it is algae sitting on the roots but since i cleaned it and put some hydrogen peroxide in the res it seems to be going away slowly.

getting excited and starting to get the feel for this. how long before i should change res again??

Every 7 to ten days is recommended.
