basically we are all being fucked by the big guy.. i was thinking one day while pumpin some gas stoned.. and realized that the government is basically cutting our gas like some cheap crack dealer.. now all the stations in my city have "contains up to 10% ethanol)... this started a couple years ago now but with now only have technically 90% gasoline the prices are still going through the roof.. also this 10% ethanol also causes slightly worse MPG or atleast in my car it did once it changed so now in return with less mpg you then have to fill up more often and just padding the pocket of the man even more.... i run only 93 (prem) gas and it would be nice to actually get what is paid for.. i just wanted to type my lil rant..lol.. gah i need a blunt..lol

I live in a farming state that is big on corn. Have you noticed the price of your groceries going up? The ethanol plants buying the corn takes it away from being used as feed. That makes a shortage and the price of feed corn goes up and that will get passed onto everything from milk, eggs, and meat. We are taking food out of our mouths and putting it in our tanks.
I have a flex truck that can use E85 or normal gas. Normal or 10% I get about 400 miles per tank. On E85, I get about 250+miles per tank.
That means I need to buy MORE high ethanol fuel to get the same distance, and the difference in the price means I pay more for E85 and drive less miles on it.
I won't use E85 again.
Ethanol can be made from HEMP as it has a lot of fiber content, and it doesn't require as much water and chemicals that corn does.
That would make it even more cheaper, and the cost of food corn and food in general will go down. The only way I will support ethanol is when it is not made with a food product...even though you can also eat hemp (low or no THC) products .

yes, especially when the poor elderly start freezing in their homes cuz they cant afford oil. its awesome. douche
Yeah, cause that happens all the time. Douche.

I guess it's ok to bomb countries killing people to protect oil interests as long as it saves hypothetical elderly people.

Corn ethanol is a total scam. For this, we can thank the good people of Iowa for refusing to vote for any candidate who doesn't support corn ethanol in the primaries. Too bad. Other types of ethanol are much cheaper and more effective.

He's failing to mention that the only state where it's even possible to heat your home with energy that comes from oil is Hawaii. So there is apparently a hypothetical elderly person freezing to death in... Hawaii? lol
??? what have you ever heard of home heating oil? made from petrolium??-aka oil? used allover america. have you read the newspaper or watched the news in the winter and heard of the elderly freezing? I have

I am not that type of voter. I vote against it because we are burning FOOD! The top two major expenses a home has is fuel and food. Now there screwing with them both.
Good call on my area...

I need to add, oil is not only used to make gasoline, diesel, natural gas, and kerosene...Everything made of plastic is made with oil products.
Oil is not only needed for our fuel, it is in damn near everything we make that contains plastics and polymers. Its not only about the fuel pump and heating costs. It also effects manufacturing of items, and how much we have to pay for them.

No, actually I haven't. It's not used all over America because I've never even been in a house that uses anything except natural gas or electricity.

People show me examples of elderly people dying because the price of oil went up. Apparently this is some sort of epidemic that I've never heard of. Enlighten me.

I lived in a rural house in Iowa that was oil heated. It has natural gas stoves but the furnace was heating oil. Those older homes are still out there and they are rural where they can't connect to natural gas. Newer homes have the liquid propane storage tanks and LP appliances but there are still a lot of oil furnaces out there.

I have been in many homes with home heating fuel fired furnaces for heat and hot water...their common especially in the midwest and north east the colder regions use it more. I can not site an example of an old person dying specificly because of a rise in the cost of heating oil but I know when their is a really cold winter you will hear of a old people freezing to death in their home. Their are programs to help the elderly who cant afford heating fuel because this is recognised as a problem. Let me see real quick if I can find a article that equates the elderly who freeze with high oil prices.http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/david-cameron-warned-over-cuts-to-winter-fuel-allowance-2055990.html http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1320577/Pensioners-fuel-poverty-doubles-years-Government-plans-cut-payment.html
