bent stem of a seedling

Hi im trying to grow 2 plants in my closet. This is my first grow so im a noob. They are under cfls and in 5 gallon smart pots with kind soil and foxfarm soil. I water them every 3 days and the temp of the room has been around 75 with around a humidity of 20. Today i was trying to mist the top of the plants with a spray bottle because i heard that can increase the humidity around the room and help the plant grow but as i was doing that my plants stem bent and it fell over. As i was trying to secure it back up it got a couple of more bents in it but i successfully got it tied to a straw with some string. I was wondering if the plant has a chance to survive and what i could do to give it a better chance of surviving. Its about 5 days old and measures about 3 inches. Any help or advice? Thanks

Ya you should have added more soil sooner but also had them supported as well .....next time get yourself a box with some holes poked in the sides for a lil air flow then put your babies in there and cover the top with clear plastic it helps keep the humidity I get coffee straws from quick stop to use to support my seedlings with a bread tie ....works really good for me and I do lots of beans at once .....another thing that helps is taking a normal water bottle poking several tiny holes in the screw on lid that way when it's filled with water and you squeeze it ...it acts like a small sprinkler ....this is my technique I've come up with over many many years and I have great results with it ....these plants are pretty hardy so hopefully they stay alive for you ....I've seen worse make it .....GL

How long did you keep them tied to the straws? Im wondering if the straw could melt because of all the light its been under amd i was doing the same thing with the bottle to water but i read up online that reused water bottles could harbor a lot of bacteria idk if it matters though

Well let's figure how hot coffee gets from those places ....hot enough to burn your face off ...if your plants are getting hot enought to melt a coffee straw then your issue wouldn't be the straw melting I promise ......further more the water bottle technique I've used for ever never an issue there and on my large gardens 60 to 100 plants I use giant plastic containers to water and feed ........your guna read yourself into problems and unnecessary work sounds like ........I'm an old school grower it's the way I was taught and you can take whatever advice you'd like ....GL

Add dirt, lower the light. The look like they're stretched to me. What spectrum are those CFLs. Use the 6500. Or get a t5 6500.

Yea ive been searching on the best ways to optimize my growth but its all new to me so its hard to figure out what i should do, would the plants grow fine in a humidity of 20? And i was wondering how often and how much water did you give them in the first weeks of veg?

Watering depends on what your growing in ....I ise light warrior to start my babies personally and whe there seedlings I just keep em moist with a spray bottle ....once they are established good I start using the water bottle I described above going down the line squirting them all waiting a bit then repeating .....every other day or so ....it's pretty easy to see when they need water in the small seed starter medium I use ....also I start my seeds in quite small square green plastic containers sold at any grow shop ....once the roots say hello through the bottom holes and the plants are usually around 5 inches tall I put em in there new home and off they go

Yeah there pretty petite stem wise when there young ....I'd lower the light some like someone else mentioned but from your pics the stems look normal ......if your in a large pot don't water the whole thing for a while ....just water about a 4 inch circle until the plant starts taking you'll know when ....don't overthink it .....and next time start your beans in a small seed starter type pot/container

I have on 2 40w daylight cfls
It should tell what the k is at the bottom of the light , honestly I think your ok . Having the light to high makes the plant reach for it . I use the 23w what on y splinter so the light is diagonal because cfls broadcast their light sideways . I'm not sure how close to subjest putting the light because of heat, but cfls don't penitrate very for . So the closer the better, until heat becomes a factor.
