Bernie Sanders roasted for not paying staffers $15 per hour.

They're pigs because they make a living wage and have a good work/life balance? How dare they dream that big? You want the people educating your children to make poverty line wages? Your underfunded education seems to be functioning just fine, after all it did give you Trump.

Lol, you're such a clown.
Bernie supporters gave us Trump and they're trying the damnedest to do it again

Bernie hasn't done anything as Senator. What don't you understand about that Burt?

If you apply my union contract to these employees:

40hrs @ 13/h = 520/wk
20hrs @ 19.50 = 390/wk

(My contract is actually overtime after 35hrs, but most are 40, so I'll use that.)

520 + 390 = $910/wk ×52wks = $47,320/yr

12hr day entitles me to:

Breakfast @ $12. × 6= $72
Lunch @ $18 × 6 = $108
Supper @ $26 ×6 = $156

72 + 108 + 156 = $481/wk (tax free)

I would say that 250 miles for a week would be a conservative estimate for mileage for a 6 day work week.

.58 × 250 = $145/wk (tax free)

481 + 145 = $626/wk (tax free)

910 + 626 = $ 1536/wk or $79,872/year, with only $47,320 being taxable.

On top of that, 20 sick days, 5 family illness days, 4 appointment days and 5 wks vacation, benefits (drugs, dental, LTD/STD, employee assistance program, health spending account, and a defined benefit pension plan [based on my best 5 years, not my contributions]), and all my work expenses paid for, etc..

Don't be fooled by a $13/h slum job compared with a Union position.

I don't know their contract so it's hard to judge, but I'll just put this out there. I don't make near that amount because I don't work that much. I make way more per hour but only work about an average of 10hrs/month or so of overtime, and only get maybe 10 meals/year, but perks can add up quickly.
Bernie Bros and Bernie's aged female groupies like @schuylaar ought to do more than just listen to his rhetoric. He's happy to give away other people's money as in Starbucks. When it comes to his own, he's more like Trump who stiffs his workers. (edit: Schuylaar, assuming you can anymore, don't get all hot and bothered when I said "stiffs his workers", I meant "didn't pay them". )

Burt, how many people now days have union jobs?
Latest report says 10% in the US have union jobs. "Right to work" has killed unions in many states. Unionism is up in California though. I am a member of two unions, and @BurtMaklin makes some good points. It's really tough for unions to compete with scabs in 2020, and the union benefits are often huge.

Bernie Sanders takes credit for Disney and Amazon raising wages but fought against paying his own staffers the $15 he was always preaching.

Sanders is a turd.

I wonder if Disney and Amazon workers get 20 paid vacation days a year, with unused days paid out at 50% at the end of the year, like Bernie's staffers do. I wonder if they get 85% to 100% of their healthcare covered like Bernie's staffers do. Things to think about.

Nah, Bernard only has to properly compensate his minions because they fought for it through collective bargaining and his entire 2016 campaign went by without this happening even though he was preaching about a $15 wage.

What a hypocrite! To add insult to injury, he takes credit for Disney and Amazon raising wages for their workers.

Sanders is a turd.

Usually I don't give much credit to name callers irregardless of which side they are on, and also you didn't address my point. Your forum name implies something that you don't embody. Ironic much?

Those companies employ about a million people
How many people get that deal from Bernie, a 100?

Your comparison is fucking absurd.

Lots of good people at Amazon lost a lot of good bennies for Bernie's $15 photo op though.

You wanna give up your stock options so some seasonal guy can say he made $15? I fucking wouldn't.

Think about that.

Talk about glossing over a point. Bernie fired people for joining a union.

You Bernie Bros selectively hear what you want from Bernie, not what Bernie does. It's not as if it's hard to find out about his hypocrisy. When the story is held under your nose, you ignore it. Jesus, just scan a few posts up.

Your name calling just shows your bias. I'm not a "Bernie Bros". I'm just asking questions which should be asked.

Bernie Bro is not name calling. It is an accurate label given to the misogynist and systemically racist males who fervently follow Bernie. Do I need to identify some of the actions that your kind have made? I get that you don't like being type-cast but the problem lies in who you follow, not in my accurate assessment of your behavior.

unions are good cause it offers more than just industry standards and occupational health and safety laws. the government standards are bare minimum, unions offer more than the minimum. very few companies follow labour laws exactly how they are written, most tend to push the boundaries, bend the rules. the wage is higher but some companies expect you to earn that wage, like you actually work your ass off, not all companies are like that but at the end of the day work needs to be done.
