I appreciate the input and definitely will hit you up with any questions.

Don't think the driver will be an issue for me. I'm in a semi-cool basement, so I can use the extra heat.

Although they might not be the 301b diodes, I'm 100% sure it's going to wipe the floor compared to what I'm running now.

I finally broke down after 4 years and got a Photobio PAR meter yesterday. One minute of having it in the tent and seeing my ACTUAL par numbers and not a Lux conversion, I gave in and accepted that, as I've known and like some people here @bk78 :) and others have said, that my Chinese Amazon boards blow big time...

It was time I join the big boys game....so here we are. :)
Congrats on the new toys, I buy myself some Christmas presents every year. ;-) Grabbed a PAX2 on cyber Monday. Can I ask what lux meter and conversion you were using? I'm interested it getting a par meter, but the truth is I need skills more than a meter.

This is the lux meter I was using...

Migro had a video on youtube where he did a comparison to an Apogee par meter with it.
Conversion is Lux X .023= Par for white led.

From what I measured with my new meter it's a pretty reliable #.

I'd stay away from the China stuff, often they say one thing, and you get another, also if you have a warranty problem with the light, I've heard nothing but horror stories trying to replacement lights/parts.
Rubbish.

I have some DIY lights that are direct clones of Mars Hydro TS1000s. The parts were sourced direct and they were assembled by a friend. Component for component they are identical to the Mars Hydro, they have been faultless for nearly two years. There are 3 parts that could fail, the board, the driver or the controller, all readily available from any supplier.

You understand that literally every light on the market today is made in China or is made from Chinese components and is merely assembled in another country.

You just hurt a lot of peoples feelings on here. :hump:
The truth hurts, but it is still the truth.

People that hate on Chinese made electronics and then post it on the internet are ironically stupid. I am willing to bet that they posted it from a Chinese made device and that literally every electronic device in their home is Chinese made.

I was looking at that one to start with but I really wanted 8 bars for better spread.
Decided afterwards I didn't want to shoehorn the 8 into my 4x4 so I ordered an ac infinity 5x5 to put it in.

With a little luck it should turn out pretty decently I think.
I‘m sure it’s a solid choice ….. if you post a grow with it , I will definitely sub in .
Was going to get spectrum x but HLG sent me the Blackbird to test ….. not complaining, just can’t trick the ole lady on yet another rig LOL.

Yeah, I definitely wouldn't mind being given a Blackbird to test :)

I honestly canceled the order for that 5x5 right after I posted that last msg. After thinking about it, I'd hate to get back in a situation where I wish I had more light again so sticking with the 4x4 makes more sense even if I have to run @ 80%.

I'm planning to start a new journal once I get everything installed. Have 4x 2 week old seedlings of Granddaddy Purple x Bruce Banner I've never ran so it's perfect timing to get the new light fully tested out.

Try getting the unit replaced or repaired under warranty, good luck! I've read enough horror stories about Mars replacement/repairs, knock offs, you're pretty much on your own. Fine if you you want to fix their stuff, but I'll stick to HLG, they have great customer service.
