Okay so im planning on growing in a size of 24"x14"x17"
I would like to have around 10 plants under 10" in height.

Compact Fluorescent Grow Light
I would get this with 125watt daylight or warm. which would be better for vegging AND flowering, daylight or warm?

OR

Jump Start Light System
in the 2ft system. would that be enough light for 10 small plants?

OR should i just get like 10 Spiral CFLS? cause the first one that is like 125usd is kinda a lot of money for me at the moment.

Last Question: how much yield would i be getting off 10 plants that are under 10" tall? 1 plant under 10"?

thanks for all the help RIU members. -s|ean

For that size space you will need at least 9000lumens(AT LEAST). To get that with regular cfl's you will need 6 100 watt equivelants. They put out 1600lumens each. If you are going to use cfl's I would get more than that, because cfl's don't penetrate the canopy that well(compared to HPS). I use cfl's but I'm not doing SOG so it's easier for me to place them strategically since they are spaced out. If I were you, and definitely wanted to use cfl's, I'd get 3 work light fixtures from walmart at $5each, get 6 y connectors at $2 each at WM, and get the bulbs from there too. They have the great value (walmart) brand bulbs and are like $7 for a 4 pack of 100 watt equivelant 2700K's. Alot of people say that you need 6500K for veg, and 2700K for flowering, but I've seen on this site that you can do full 2700K grows so you'll have to decide for yourself. All together at walmart you'll spend probably a little over $50 in lighting, which if your budget is small is perfect. If not, for $95 at htgsupply you can get a 150 watt HPS that puts out 16000 lumens. The only problem then is heat. Hope this helps and good luck...

Holy crap...My post took so long you guys already replied. Holy crap, 400 watt HPS. That's huge for that small of space. A 400 watter could probably cover 16 square feet, you only have 2-3 square feet. I thought you said $125 was expensive, that's gotta be more than that. Hope you're keeping ventilation in mind too, because that's going to get very hot. I'm not talking about a desk fan either.

Have you bought it yet because it will be way too close to the plants. If you go with CFL I would suggest 2 6500k bulbs as the general consensus is they control stretching.

Im still up in the air, I think im gonna keep vegging and than flower my current plant and after I see what yield i get, then ill decide whether or not im going to buy a HPS
