Best Hash Making Method for my Buds/Trim

  • Got some trim and possibly a nice amount of nugs I'd like to turn into some hash. I've made iso before and ended up with some very green/dark product that had a very weird smell/taste. Over the past week I've looked into many methods and I've decided on two possible methods. Bubble hash with a 8 bag set that I'll shortly buy off ebay, or absolute shatter by making bho with power 5x refined butane then winterizing with 191 proof Everclear since I don't have money nor the knowledge to use a vacuum purge.
    Let me know your opinions! Maybe possible alternatives or advice!?

Bubble hash is great but it is a lot of work for a small return;it is the best option if you have a shit-ton of trims. If you have a limited amount you can run BHO & winterize with everclear for a better yield than bags. Your qwiso likely came out like shit because you did too long if a wash- using 99% ISO you should slosh it around for less than a minute and use no heat to evaporate.
If you can afford bags you can afford a mityvac had brake bleeder and a mason jar to purge- then get a heating pad & you've got a low cost vac oven... Then all you need is a turkey baster, coffee filter, & a hose clamp & you can vac purge... Whole setup less than $50 which is not much more than a set of cheapo bags. The knowledge part is ez- anyone can do it but blasting BHO is dangerous if done indoors. The purging is not as hard as it looks

bubble hash for the block, please.
can be lower yield, but I like the end result better. Plus, you can get some variety with the different pulls & different bags.

It's an amazing journey.

Never ever blast indoors and think before you act and BHO will quickly become your favorite means of medicating.

Yes its still quality bho,some argue higher quality even (if you winterize). You dont a vac if you winterize it. Bubble hash is nice but harder to achieve full melt & yields less (usually).

A vacuum pump will greatly benefit your extraction, however you can produce a quality product without.

The key is low and slow. Perform a Winterization of your oil and keep your temps around 120° or less.

Without the altering of atmospheric pressure in a vacuum chamber, a proper purge will take quite some time.
At the very least grab a Mity-Vac for now, but I'm just being very honest here...

Once one steps into the realm of creating BHO, the processing itself is extremely addictive, not to mention the the high associated with a nice dab...

I went over a full year not smoking any flowers, until recently after my first grow...

Growing brought the passion back for my beloved flowers, but I is a flower snob now. I'll only toke down super super fire buds.

Have you made bubble hash before?
I only ask because, unless your trims are absolutely covered in trichomes your yields are going to be very depressing.

I made this mistake a few times..got some amazing FMCD(Full Melt Clear Dome)..but my yield was horrible, and made me very sad.

Wondering if you have enough material to so a small run of each extraction method?
This will provide a data base to make your decision.

Also, another variable to consider, Bubble will inevitably create a minimum of two different grades of hash.
Even more so if you use an entire set of bags.
If you do choose bubble, do yourself a huge favor and use the guidance of Frenchy Cannoli..

Looks like I'll be making bho and winterizing with 95% everclear. Does anyone have an idea what my returns will be like trim vs. buds?
Also I'm wondering, do any of you get a chemically taste or any taste you don't like while smoking winterized,non vac-purged, bho?

I've only made iso hash, never bubble hash. I've read through French Cannoli's method and that's exactly how I'd do it if I made bubble.
Is it safe to use a mason jar with the mityvac?
And btw your post was greatly appreciated! Not many people actually take the time to give quality, honest advice these days. Thank you! Sorry you had to spend your lunch break helping me!:bigjoint:

Keep in mind Frenchy's got garbage bags full of trim laying around ...which is awesome if you got it like that but run BHO if you've got only an oz or 2 for your head like the rest of us- yield is actually worth all the trouble unlike bubble bags. No chemical taste and no you won't implode the jar at these pressures

Obviously your return is higher with better quality trims that being said you should expect a 15-20% return depending upon material quality... I did a run last week using just over an oz of mixed trims & popcorn which yielded approx 2.5g of honeycomb wax

Can someone point me in the right direction of correctly setting up a vac chamber with the mityvac and a mason jar? I really don't know a whole lot about setting it up :/
