Best inline fan

I have a 1x2x3 (WxLxH) cab. I need the most silent fan possible to vent this area. Based on a thread I have read, you want to try to ventilate the room 3 times in a minute. I also plan on having a carbon scrubber. Based on this, I need a fan that pushes at the very least 30 CFM, 18 CFM for the room and I'm assuming another 10 for the carbon scrubber. Please let me know if I have my math correct and my thinking straight.

So the question is, what is the best possible fan for what I need. Stealth is priority. My budget for this is <$80, but I would ideally like to spend around $50.

I have read numerous threads and no one can seem to agree on this topic. However, one individual said this company makes great fans and this kind of stuck out for me because of the price and what not.

Thanks for any help

good luck finding a "real" inline fan that small. The smallest I generally see are 4" 160cfm+.

also, those duct fans you posted cannot be used with a filter. They will not work with any resistance to airflow, they are just booster fans.

You would need a fan from their windtunnel line to use with a carbon scrubber. I have a 4" sunleaves windtunnel. I like it. It moves a lot of air and is silent except for the sound of the air moving. You cannot hear the fan at all. but all that is pointless with a box as small as yours.

Look at maybe a bathroom exaust fan and rigging up your own carbon filter. You can get them about 50cfm, by the time the filter pressure slows it down it should be good. I'm not sure how well computer fans work with the pressure of a filter. That is worth examining.

I forgot to mention that I will also have a 150 W HPS light in there that has its own cooling. Not really sure if it's relevant but I guess it can't hurt to include all info

On a low budget with small cfm requirements you might rig up with duct tape a fan that they sell in home improvement stores for bathroom vents. Or you could scrounge used computer fans powered buy a used computer power supply.

no, that is not a cooltube. Your plants will cook in a box your size with any type of hid in that reflector.

this is a cooltube.

you have a duct coming in one side of the box bringing cool outside air into the light and drawing it thru the cooltube cooling the bulb and reflector with a fan on the other end pulling the air out and exhausting it on the other side outside the box. They are airtight.

I've been looking at this bathroom fan at Lowe's, but I don't know if you could modify your configuration to make it work for you. There's one bigger model, too.

Broan 50 CFM Bath Fan ($30, or so.)
