Gavita CT 1930e has been announced already.
Yes I seen that, the reason I thought wtf with hlg since there is a lot of difference in what each claim is a 1000w replacement.

What's your take? It's strange gavita didn't try to top others but go it's own way. Now there's two seperate viewpoints.

I am part sold on the gavita, the savings on electricity are less at 780w. Strange sales pitch from them.

My take is it’s just another overpriced light. Your plants can’t see the gavita sticker, only your internet bros can.

New LEDs being developed are only going to cost more, I think gavita have come in knowing this and seen a bigger opportunity next.

Maybe they aimed for overpriced, in fact it looks like they did then made no effort to promote or compete.

But when everyone is scrambling for the next LEDs and they are all similar prices I bet they up their game substantially.

I'm no expert in LED vs HPS by any means but a friend of mine is and he gave me the analogy of Landline vs Cell phone when I first asked about grow lights. Cell phone is fancy, compact, flexible, etc but to this day it still can't beat a good old landline phone in the most important aspect which is connection. I took that advice and bought an hlg 550 LED lol. What can I say I'm sucker for good advertising campaign of overpriced products. I almost bought spider farmer or marshydro but luckily found this forum just in time.

Google when first invented, think you will find the led older than the HPS.

The 1960's was a great decade for growlights.

I remember my dad turning to me in 1964 and saying 'Son, why the fuck you still growing corn with that them ummmm high pressure sod I ummmms, the stores got them new Texas Instruments SNX-100 GaAs LED kits in ain't nobody using your discharge technology anymore'

They were good times, running single diodes in to-18s

As for side by side comparison in a dialed in room. The 1700e eats the 1kw DE. DE.at this point I do not believe the bulb is 2100 umol. I tried contacting a few LED companies if they wanted to use their products against some Gavitas. No dice. Will all due respect to all the reviewers, testers and what not. If you want to hang a light in a small box or tent and show numbers without a real grow comparison. Those numbers mean nothing.

I’ve tried contacting overpriced light salesman too, but they already know a light 1/3 the price of theirs will compete side by side against theirs.
