220 micron is one that I use. I have the 3 bag set from Boldt bags. Key is to break up the dry ice into large chunks, not too big not too small. More pieces of dry ice = more surface area for your trim & buds to make contact with. I have seen some try to use the polar pack ice concept (one big piece that barely fits in the bag) that doesn't work as well. Do not forget that dry ice has a temp of about -109.3 degrees below zero. If you don't take precautions including long sleeves and very heavy gloves you could easily burn your skin. Good luck!

Cool Thank you very much MacGuyver! I am gonna give it a whirl... I have many pounds of nice trim and popcorn bud.... Should I put the bud in a food processor to break it up a bit?

i used a 110 micron bag and found it was very impure when compressed i recommend something lower than that.and i would say not to use a food processor

i have an eight bag five gallon kit and used the 110 micron but the next lowest bag is a 45 i didn't know if that was to fine for sifting kief.is it?

I make a lot of it, and I just use a 220 bag. Getting a nice final product is all about how long you shake your bag. The longer it's shaken, the worse the product. Just make sure you stop shaking before it goes green and you'll be ok.

45 to 70 micron sizes are best for Sativa hashes as they have smaller trichome heads. 70 to 150 micron will get larger Indica trichomes heads most effectively. 150 to 220 is for "cooking" hashes or tinctures, not smoking.

I use 73 micron bag for smoking hash, 120 micron for cooking, and 220 for making green dragon. Works well and provides an array of different ways to medicate.

I've found the 220 to be the best for me. Because it is so cold the leaf/bud will break up fast. Use golf ball size chucks, stay close to the surface (it will spread out), shake gently, scrape surface often. The longer the ice is in the bud the move it will break down. The harder you shake the move it will brake down. You can quickly end up with frozen broken up leaf/bud.
Check the keif often as you be gin to see green separate the hash by color. The harder you shake, the longer you shake, the more green matter you will have in your hash.
So you grade separation will occur without different bags. out of 8oz of green, fresh, frozen leaf/bud I got 22gm of golden crystal, about the same of slightly green hash, however, when this dried which is no more than a day (I think its sort of freeze dried so its just a matter of CO2 evaporation) I ended up with about 7-8 grms of nice hash. I made oil with the remainder. However I will shake a little more and use the hash for butter/oil next time.
You can shake shit and you'll get more. If you getting 1/4 lb of has from 1 lb of weed you got a lot of leaf matter in you keif.
It fast, it easy, its cheaper, only 1 bag.
#1 rule BE GENTLE.

I see this is an old thread, but does any one know if Dry Ice Hash is better than Dry Screen Hash?

I found a 2 Bag Kit locally. Mine are called, Frost Bags & they are very well made.

The (160) works the Best IMO! I have a (220) also, but i just don't see the point in using it when doing the dry ice process...
