Best soil medium?

Can anyone let me know what they have good results with when going the good ol' soil route?

What kind of soil? What should I look for? Soil+Perlite? Should I combine 2.. 3... 4...? Any expert advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I'm no expert, but have had good 6+ ft. plants outdoors. The main thing is good drainage.
I use a mix 50% promix, perlite & 50% good sterile soil, low ph if you can find it. I'm having prob. finding neutral ph soil. Scotts, Foxfarm seems to be very popular. Stay away
from time release nutes. like miracle grow three month as they can burn your plants. I don't have experience w/indoor grows ......YET !!!

Does anyone know if i should mix dolimite lime and perlite to Fox Farm Ocean
Forest or if I would be better off just leaving it alone they way it is? I also would like to mix bone meal and peat moss to mix through. I need to know if this is a good ideal or if it is bad for the plants

Try some dolomite lime mixed in with the soil. supposed to buffer the pH to near/at neutral.

No direct experience with Fox Farm soil, but it's supposed to be ready to go "as is". I've heard nothing but good things about the stuff. You might want to check the latest High Times because Fox Farm soil made the STASH awards and there's a brief write up.

i use fox farm ocean forrest soil. i mix 20% perlite, and thats it. works great for me. dont need to be mixin all kinds of stuff with it, just perlite. 20% or until it has a bit of "bounceback" when u flatten it.

Cool. thanks for your help. Do u think i should add just a little lime to the mix to make sure the ph stays level? and also do u know anything about stuff called garden lime? I dont think it is the same as dolimite. Thanks again for your time

I use a garden lime made by Espoma called Organic Traditions and it works wonderfully. It is dolimite, just a better quality and its in very very small pellets. 5lbs will cost you about 10 bucks. I would use it if you truly need to. Make sure you do a soil sample first.

Thanks for your input it seems to be that your the only one who had a problem with me asking a question to someone who obviously know about soil. You werent even in the thread at all. Not to mention i am furthering the question by asking things that would be good in soil I.E. "best Soil Medium?" But again, thanks your the man
