best strain for indoor growing??

my grow set-up: 2x2x5 grow tent, 135w QB, soil grown
Also, with that set up, you wouldn't want more than two plants in there at a time, unless you're doing an SOG style grow, like with 2-liter bottles as pots.

I would recommend doing it SOG style because of your limited vertical space. It's good that you have quantum boards because they're very thin. However, your pots are going to take up about 1ft of space. That leaves you with only 4ft of vertical grow space, not counting whatever space the quantum board takes up. You typically need to have the board 8 to 12 inches away from the plants, so that leaves you with only 3ft of vertical space left to grow in. If it's not too late to return the tent, I would return it and get one that is 6ft tall. There are plenty available.

Anyway, with a 5ft tall tent, IMO, your best bet would be to do it SOG style and take clones from a mother. As soon as the clones are rooted, you would put them under 12/12 flowering lights immediately. If you do that, they should finish up at around 15 to 24 inches tall in the end. This would leave you with an extra 1ft of vertical space as room for error.

In your space, you can fit up to 36 2-liter bottles/pots because they're 4 inches in diameter. With this method, there would be zero to one month veg time, drastically increasing your frequency of harvests.

The SOG method would also maximize your yield. You could get 14 grams per 2-liter pot if you did it really well, or 7 grams if not so well, or 4 grams if you didn't do well at all (this is highly variable, depending on size of clones, temp, humidity, medium used, nutrient type and levels, style of growing, etc).

So, with 36 plants, you're looking at a 140 to 500 gram harvest, which is 5 to 18 oz. It would drastically increase not only your harvest size, but your frequency of harvests. You could harvest 5 to 18 oz every two months. If you do it the traditional way, without mothers, you are looking at a smaller harvest, and only every 4 months, at most.

The problem with a "proper" SOG method is that you would need a separate space for mothers to take clones from.

Just in case you're unfamiliar with the SOG method, here is a grow journal from someone who does awesome 2-liter SOG grows. He uses the strain Snow White, from Nirvana seeds, which is White Widow x Cinderella 99 (another great indoor strain for you to try).

Check out the journal even if you're not going to go with SOG. It's a very entertaining read, and you learn a hell of a lot.

Even if you can't have a separate space for mothers, I would still do an SOG from seed, using many smaller pots and smaller plants rather than a couple of big plants because of your lack of vertical space.

If you get feminized seeds, then you could just start 36 of them in 2 liter bottles/pots, and either grow 12/12 from seed, or just have very little veg time, like a couple of weeks to a month max. That way, you don't risk having the plants get too tall, growing into your lights.

Or, so you wouldn't have to use so many seeds, you could use one gallon pots instead of 2-liters. A good thing to use for that would be one gallon water bottles, preferably the cylindrical-shaped ones. You could fit 16 of them in your space because they are six inches in diameter, and hopefully harvest around a half oz to an oz per plant. In that case, with the larger 1gal pots, I would veg a little bit longer, like maybe one month minimum to 6 weeks and bring the lights down very close to the tops of the plants, so they don't grow stretchy.

You also have limited horizontal space, so you don't have a lot of room to tie them down with a scrog, even more reason to go with SOG.

Flower them earlier?

In a 2 x 2 Id do 1 plant, and train it ect, and use as much medium as possible.

Flower early, and use a strain that doesn't stretch much.
Id use the Dominion Granny Skunk for that application. VERY POTENT, and .75:1-1:1 stretch. Big yield, slightly slow in veg. HUGE buds, and Leaves. Jurassic leaves.

Weve got trees of it growing. Vegged 80+ days/1000w Gavita, and 15 gallons Promix BX and 1 plant has a 2+ foot main cola, and bigger around than a 2 litre bottle.

how do you combat rootbound plants with pots that small?

@TPTB73
When you run clones in 2-liter bottle pots and flip them to 12/12 as soon as they root (which is usually about 2 weeks for me), there is no problem with them becoming rootbound.

The link I posted below is a journal from the master of 2-liter SOGs. He's the one who inspired me to start doing this. It increased my yields by 30%, and completely cut out veg time.

He had people asking the same question as you. So, for an experiment, he ran one in a 16 oz solo cup just to see, and even that one didn't get rootbound.

If you go with one gallon pots, you can even veg them for a month, or 6 weeks, and they won't become rootbound. I just switched to one gallon pots for the sole reason that I got tired of hand watering so many 2 liters. I grow hempy style.

So, with the one gallon pots, there aren't as many to have to water, except I do have to veg them for a month, as opposed to flipping them straight to 12/12 like with the 2-liter bottle pots (which are half gallon sized).

I mean, I don't necessarily HAVE to veg them for a month or so, but since I can't fit as many pots in the tent because they're bigger, I veg them for a month or so in order to maintain a large yield.
