best strains for MA?

I have never grown before, so I was wondering what strains grow best in Massachusetts. I got some white widow seeds, but I don't know if they'll finish flowering before the frost hits (according to some research i've done, it requires 9-11 weeks of flowering and MA only starts getting 12/12 sept 26th, and first frost is oct 5). Does anyone have experience with this strain outdoors in MA? If not, does anyone know any good outdoor strains that will finish in time in MA? Thanks!

Also in Ma...though I've taken to small indoor crops due to our short growing season. Indicas or auto strains mature quicker but a tip for outdoors in New England. Start inside late May, early June under 24 hour light and plant outside after 7/1 as by then the days are getting shorter. With any luck you sould be flowering by mid-end July and keep them in until Frost which typically doesn't happen til mid Oct...they will survive a light frost also...hope this helps!!

It does, thanks! I was planning on planting straight into the ground though (after germinating) because of my parents, but who knows, maybe ill tell them im growing vegetables in the windowsill until I can put them outside haha

speaking of which, would growing in the windowsill be sufficient for starting off my plants? I don't have the time/money/privacy to build a grow room

Should work, though 24 hour lighting should speed up the flowering process when u put them outdoors.

Hey pimpI have done a little research for ya and I really dont think that WW will do super outdoors with the colder temps we get at night but timewise I think they will finish no problem.

Living in the north east I have been researching new strains myself. I generally have just been looking through different seed banks and look at flowering times and such to see which I think would be the best fit for me. One of the strains I have been most interested in was the Aurora indica from Nirvana seed bank. they offer it in feminised so if you orderd tham soon you MIGHT get them in time to germ and grow them up enough to get them out in an appropriate ammount of time for this season. but time is getting very tight so Id do it sooner than later if you have the means.

check out my journal, i grow on the windowsil in the morning then once the sun stops shining on my babie, she gets put under 1 CFL for about 10-12 hrs. im getting a headstart on an outdoor grow and ill be putting them outside mid may i think.

the weather keeps changing here in mass, so my transplant date feeps getting pushed back

things arent going too smoothly, but it can be done

i can recomend a great white or smoething along those lines. even with the shitty summer last year i had one grow great and it was wide and had many branches and top colas with no pinching at all. 1lb off of one plant and we only fed it once about 2 weeks into flowering. it did have very good sunlight and was in a garden with good soil

Thanks guys! really appreciate the input. I kinda wanna go with a purple strain from Nirvana like blackberry, or i might play it safe and get kaya gold.. haven't decided yet. Any opinions on either of these or another purple strain from nirvana? Also, the soil is really shitty (like sand) where im growing, which probably accounts for the lack of vegetation that gives the area great sunlight. Do you guys think I should dig a hole and fill it in with soil or use buckets?

in my opinion you should dig some holes and put some nice soil in there. and make sure you stay away from rows. dig a hole right next to a bush that gets alot of sun and try to make them blend in. alson stay away from the perlite or at least for the top 3-4 inches. hauling out the dirt can be a bitch so good luck with that.

oh yea even if you want to use buckets i recommend putting them in the ground. the sun can bake your roots and dry them out on a real sunny day. and it also hides them very well.

Thanks man, I didn't know that about the roots drying out, although I would have buried them anyways to hide them. If the roots go through the soil and hit the sand though there won't be a problem?

no you wont have any trouble with that. ive had roots growin out of the bottom of a pot i had and i picked it up and heard all the snapping. it wasnt alot but it still made my heart drop. but even after ripping them up the plant did fine.

hope this helps and stay high:eyesmoke:

nah no purple. but i can say youd be better off putting clones out. they skip the seedling stage all together and just start growing! make sure to ease them into the sunlight gradually if you ever do.
