He could always send a different letter to the address on the package with his, or another return address he has access to, and see if it gets delivered or returned. If it comes back then you can be pretty sure the address is invalid and there is literally nothing else he could do. If it does not come back then the first package was delivered by mistake and could have been sent back and forwarded to the correct address.

Thanks bob and pipe for seein things my way. I'm not a bad guy. At least I got em and not the little old lady across the street.
One could of course look at the irony of that and say well yes, the little old lady never got her beans, maybe not the one across the street but a little old lady none the less :) I just don't agree with opening other peoples mail, let alone then taking the contents. And i doubt that the address was non-existent, just a small hunch.
