There are a few way to do it. You can top after the 5th or 6th node to result in a bushier plant, or 7-10 days before flower. Topping later will give you better result. Early topping slows veg down and will lengthen your total time. There will be many opinions so read carefully because not all here want to help. Good Luck

Wait till there 5-6" high and top the plant just above a few nodes close together

some times I have cut 50% off the plant, as long as you have 4 nodes its all good

As the nodes grow pull them down and the 4 top nodes will turn into more than 12 nodes in less than 2 weeks

Re-pot and flower, now you have your very bushy plant :)

what I like to do is top above the 3rd node then wait a week or more for the new 4 shoots to grow in and grow a second node, then I top off that second node, gives me something like this after about 2 months

Go ahead and top them as soon as you have an identifiable top to remove. I prefer FIM'ing over topping and both procedures are best done as early as possible in veg cycle. I like to have 2 weeks after a FIM before that plant goes into the flower room. Removing the crown is traumatic for the plant and they need time to recover and take off growing again. Good luck, BigSteve.
