Better way to flush reservoir?

The first time I flushed my res, a few days ago, it seemed really hard on my seedlings, esp as they were only a week or so old

I can't imagine trying to flush an AG res with big-ass plants chillin...

Is there a way to remove the water from the AG res without actually lifting it off the base? Like, a water pump or something?

...or maybe use like a Turkey Baster or something? (yeah, its ghetto, but if it works....)

I have an old vaporizer hose (Surgical plastic) that I use to Siphon out the water. Its really easy. No need to move anything. Plus siphoning is just amazing, thank you physics.

....google siphon....

so woah, siphoning is simply a plain tube, with a height difference from reservoir and bucket?
seems too simple...what's the drawback?

suggestions for starting the flow? I don't wanna do it by mouth, but is there anything around the house that I can use?

Also, google mentioned that if you put fluid in the hose BEFORE putting it into the res, it will auto-start or something?

I can see how putting water in the hose before would work. I just use my mouth, but if you don't want to taste nutrients then I don't blame you. (If you time it right, you give a quick suck, the water will never touch your lips) Its really easy, I've never gotten any in my mouth before.

change your water once a week, absolute minimum. salts and junk build up over time, and you NEED to change it!
