:clap: im not ungrateful ive gained a great deal from RIU. i just dont like adverts.
and actually i do work in an organisation that has 30,000+ members on the web collating data in and out. and to be honest server costs are pretty minimal.

If you have gained so much from RIU, why are you complaining about a few ads? Nobody is being penalized like you suggest either, because you could contribute by mail if you were so inclined. Bandwidth isn't free. I'm all for RIU trying to remain solvent. I'm good friends with a guy that runs a forum that doesn't generate as much traffic as RIU and he pays at least 200 USD every month. The last thing I want is for RIU to become a financial burden on its owner. That's usually how forums die. Why decry efforts to make sure that doesn't happen to this one?

look im not going to get into pedantic syntax arguments. i take the point RIU isnt free to run. the point i was trying to make is that i dont like adverts and dont see why we should pay to not have something forced upon us. the point about paying by cash in the post well i could do that yes. i dont wish to. simple.
