First Time Growing
Lights - 8 27w cfls (100w equiv), HPS to be bought later
Medium - Miracle Grow Moisture Control
Seeds - Bag seeds
Plan - Germinate and grow bag seeds to get some viable females. Use these to clone for a more serious grow.
I germinated the seeds using the paper towel method which took 2-3 days. I now have 5 seedling approx. 1" tall directly under the cfls for 24 hour continuous light. They are in clear plastic solo cups. Temps in the space are around 70 degrees. Misting them a couple times a day when top soil is dried out. They have been growing for 3 days. Plan to switch to solid containers soon (no light at roots) and cover the walls with mylar for light reflection. Looking for any advice, comments, or tips as this is my first time. Can someone help me out w/ the following:
1. 24 hour light OK???
2. How far to keep the 8 cfls off the seedlings?
3. See any problems with my setup in the photos?
4. Seedling look a little stretched. Should I backfill some new soil up to the leaves?
Thanks for any help. I'm really looking forward to learning how to this this right and enjoy the bountiful greens.
