Yes, the benefit of hindsight allows me to see how absolutely batshit crazy that was and how lucky I am. I like things firmly on (or planted in) the ground these days

Oh yes. Combine punctuality and efficiency nerd and you've got me. Last time I went to my mom's house, 5 hours away. I called and said, "GPS has me arriving at 2:33am. See you then." I pulled in her driveway at 2:32 to this day she doesn't believe we stopped for a bathroom and gas break and still nailed the time.
Trying to teach my 13 year old the same skill, half in order to make her life effective, half in order to make it so I don't have to wait for her.

the loaves with the criss cross scoring are volkenbrot style rye, lots of seeds and whole grain rye. my favorite loaf!

Not really, I broke down and bought the first minisplit. If all goes well #2 will shortly follow.
