IMG_1620.JPG IMG_1619.JPG My first go at making an rwc just need to add cooler and a big supply tank to feed the header tank, but just made it to get an understanding of how they work, added due to watch the water circulate to what do you think for a first go haha? Bit botched up but a few alterations and I think I'm there can't put it into practice for around 10 weeks yet need my soil grow to finish

Sorry to say this but you cant use clear tubs in dwc as this will cause algae to grow, you need black containers that let no light in.

looks like you have to basics nailed down impressive.
I bought my system as i didn't have time to make my own.
Things i would recommend to you are black containers and bigger pipes ( i have small pipes and they can get blocked with roots if not careful).
Are you sucking the water from the containers or pumping in to them and just allowing water to flow back on its own? most people put there re circulation pump so it draws the water from the plant pots back to the res, this is how mine works.
I have 2 rows of 3 pots with each pot connected together at one end of each row is connected the the control bucket and the other end of each row joins together to one return pipe, this return pipe has the pump drawing water back to the control bucket.

Did a root check on my girls last night and my blueberry cheese cake has already filled the full pot with roots. its a beast of a plant and looking forward to harvest lol

You can see my buckets connected to each other and the centre return pipe which has the pump attached sucking the water from the end 2 pots. dont know why its done this way. water falling and flooming are regarded as the best forms of oxygenation, i floom my return in the control bucket but still use air stones to mix solution and oxygenate but the key is always gonna be water temps 2017-06-13-07.34.55.jpg

Get something that will reflect light and cover those containers . If you cover them completely with no light leaks they should be fine . For example you can use foil tape , black duct tape , or something of the sort .

True but much easier to just buy black containers with black lids, have a look at staples or some of the cheapo shops. Foil cracks after a while and Imo do it right the first time saves time and money later. I must say though I do plan on covering my kids and pipes to reduce the load early on in veg on my chiller.

Happy Growing

Many experienced growers here will say those are fine just find and use the reflective material that I stated in my earlier post

I'm not saying it won't work im just saying its easier to buy black containers from the start. I would rather use good black containers than have to rap and tape shit to them.

Peace out!
