Ahh.. I must be missing the calibration solution. It def wasn't in the box. Am I screwed or what?
You do really need the calibration solution. Mine came with 2 different ones...a high ph and a low ph. If nothing else snatch some paper until you can get some solution ;)

You are not screwed, if you have a hydro store anywhere near you then pick these up.IMG-20120207-00247.jpg
You only need one of each, as you know i broke mine so i got these so that i can calibrate the new one coming. Just picked these pouches up at the hydro spot today.

So has anyone used a organic microbe brew or molasses for root stimulation and/or prevention of root slime?

i believe for the prevention of any kind of root problems in your res you should use h2o2 a.k.a hydrogen peroxide.

Thanks man. What type of dose for a 5 gal rez? I have 3%.. will that work? I read a thread on beneficial microbes that prevents root slime. Ill see if I can find it.

but if you are gonna use the h2o2 it will kill the bacteria. So choose wisely and dont do anything that would be counter productive.

Thats what I gathered from that post. I didnt have any probs with my last grow either. Just want to make sure I know how to handle the issue if it arises.

Day 6-

Water temp: 67F
Ambient Temp: 70F
PPM: 110
PH: 6.2
No Nutes

Everything is looking good for now. The water level in the rez is almost to the rockwool. Once roots hit the water, I will reduce water level to obtain proper oxygen levels.

Looks like she is already stretching out a little.

Taproot is looking good
IMG_0005.jpg

Installed training wire around perimeter of 5 gal rez
IMG_0006.jpg

Added an extra air stone to the mix
IMG_0007.jpg

Hydroton clay was soaked in ph correct water for several hours
IMG_0008.jpg

Placed seedling approx. 1/3 from the bottom of the net pot and off center (for LST)
IMG_0009.jpg

Covered her up so no light leaks in the rez.

I guess if run into an issue I will use H2O2 and see how that works. If it doesn't, I will resort to bene bacteria.
