Boat-shaped leaves and short (?) stem

Hello. My Northern Lights auto lady is about 2 weeks old, and after the first week I saw this issue started and now it really worries me. Here are the pics, as you can see those leaves are shaped like a boat and upturned. What also worries me is that it looks really short though there's third pair of leaves starting to grow. It's also oddly thick and doesn't bend easily.
I've read some info on this and the first probable solution was to stop overwatering the plant, which I most probably did, but issue doesn't goes away.
Now I also realize it could happen because I packed my soil too tight into the pot, only the top layer is quite loose and that's why it looks very dry. Although 4cms down it's well-moisturized.
I'm planning on re-filling the pot, this time with less soil and with addition of vermiculite. But I'd like to hear what do you think the problem is?
I've read some literature but it's my first grow ever so please don't hate. bongsmilie
