This will serve to document my room build and subsequent grows.

I am doing this to log the fine tuning of this room and hold my self accountable to the goals below.

The room is roughly 5'X8'X6', the low ceiling may lend themselves better towards LED, however I think cool tubing a 1000w HPS would work fine as well.

Current Ambient temps are around 64 with RH of about 40. I may have to supplement some heat depending on lighting chosen. will probably have to supplement heat when lights are off.

Current Goals:
Select strain(s) from my plethora (I went a little nuts on Black Friday) of strains and get them in a cube.
Purchase Lighting 1000w HPS/ TIMBER Redwood. I may purchase an array of smaller timbers depending on what I decide to do to maximize the space.
Purchase 2x4 Tray (back burner)
Figure out what type of Hydro to run ( I've been playing ping pong between Automated Hempys /Top Feed in Rockwool DTW/F&D) I have experience with F&D and Hempy.
Be completely set up to run by the end of January.
Order Fans/CF (Going to run an exhaust Carbon Filter as well as scrubber)
Build Tray stands.
Line with Panda Film

Stay Tuned.

For a Saturday I slacked off vs. what I could've gotten done... But I did get the tray table completed and half the drip tubing installed I also got the res put together. I did have a thought while making the top feed system "You know F&D would be a hell of a lot simpler." But for now, I'm moving forward with the top feed system.(I've been bouncing around the idea to use rockwool cubes, but like the wiggle room you have with hempy.)

First I chose about 6 strains based on the lineage characteristics then randomized 3 out of those leaving me the following seeds:
(3) WonderWeed by "42"
(5) Crenshaw Melon by Lost River
(5) Gassed Up Punch by Grobotonik (Never ran their Gear but have heard good things.)

I will be pheno hunting this first round. Going to see which, if any, of these are best fit for SOG. I may isolate to one strain for simplicity, unless I get good results from all.

If you’re reading this feel free to comment.

Hey Flatrate,

Glad to have you along!
I'm thinking about cutting the table down 6" or so to get a little more vertical space and relocating the Res outside of the room. I have about 4' from the base of the tray to that support 2x2 think that may force my hand to LED.

I like the name too! I remember listening to these guys years back and for some reason it popped in my head as I was making this journal.

Sweet setup, I am planning a stand up table similar to that for trimming! Nice work!

I’m a bit worried about the structural integrity of the table in this picture above though.

Albeit I know its not the prettiest (Last bit of 2x2 used as the cross brace was warped to hell). as far as structural integrity It's fine.

Thanks Hust!

Yeah I did the ole' push on the tray with a lot of my weight and said "eh it should hold". Glad you brought it up though good to see an actual weight on the table.

When you say LED are you still considering Timber's?
Hey flatrate,

I am considering Timber's Redwood and also the Daisy (5). But also the HLG 550 V2 ECO ( Looks to be the same Lamp as the RSPEC without the deep red and ETL Cert.) Really leaning the Daisys because its more within my budget, I could splurge a little more to get the redwood but it may be a tad overkill when I can just run the Daisys and be almost perfect watt/sf.

Im 95% going LED hoping to have it picked out and ordered by the end of the month.

Good deal, all you listed is top notch. I too like the concept of the Daisies.

Couple updates:

I built a small cloning station using an old T5 with new bulbs. This is temporary because I'm going to be building an actual mother/cloning area eventually.

I located the Res outside of the room, I also installed the drainage using PVC. Excuse the little bit of water on the floor, didnt realize one of the drip tubes was hanging off the side when I cycled the pump. Ive got some automation plans for this room maybe using a doser. I am going to run plants in hempy style liter containers with Hydroton giving them a 10 oz shot before and after they hit the res, if using permit/vermiculite I could water less frequently but because hydroton has no real wicking property I brainstormed this to meet in the middle of rockwool/hempys (Feel free to chime in if you think this wouldn't work and why). I did a quick time study and it takes my system just under 2 minutes (1:54.74 to be exact) to deliver 10 oz's.

I started hanging the Polyfilm this morning before work hope to have it finished up tonight.

Im going to build a new table out of PVC and lower the overall height by about a foot. That should give me plenty of vertical space without worrying about light separation from the canopy.

Current Goal List:
Select strain(s) from my plethora (I went a little nuts on Black Friday) of strains and get them in a cube.
Purchase Lighting 1000w HPS/ TIMBER Redwood. I may purchase an array of smaller timbers depending on what I decide to do to maximize the space.- Not Started ( I have narrowed it down to LED. Timber Daisy or the HLG )
Purchase 2x4 Tray (back burner) - Not Started

Figure out what type of Hydro to run ( I've been playing ping pong between Automated Hempys /Top Feed in Rockwool DTW/F&D) I have experience with F&D and Hempy.
Be completely set up to run by the end of January. - In Progress
Order Fans/CF (Going to run an exhaust Carbon Filter as well as scrubber) - Not Started
Build Tray stands.
Build Shorter PVC Stand- Not Started
Line with Panda Film - In Progress

Excellent move! I experimented with a similar tray setup and ran out of room every grow with 7' ceilings …
Thanks for stopping by mr_c. I do plan on running 12/12 from clone but it was pretty obvious stating in there today I need to get the tray as low as possible. I think If it still gets out of hand I'll lower it down even further and run a condensate pump. Gonna play it by ear. I guess my back took over my brain when building that table haha.

I've gotten most of the polyfilm done and damn man, I felt like Dexter Morgan in there...

Its Tedious cutting it to size and getting it lined up, its shaping up quickly though.

Seed update:
Its been about 120 hours since they were started

4 of 5 Gassed up Punch have popped
5 of 5 Crenshaw Melon have popped
1 of 3 of the wonder weed have popped (Thinking that's all I may get, one seed was very small and I had my doubts from the beginning. The other looked off. Hoping the viable one is a lady with good characteristics.)

A few of the Gassed up punch and Crenshaw melons are opening up getting ready to rock. I will have the room completed sans lights and CF this weekend. Ill get some pictures as well.

Now for a cold beer and a bowl.
