Bottom leaves turning yellow and dying please help

The bottom leaves on my plants are turning yellow and dying. Are they not getting enough light or is it lacking a certain nutrient? Also the top leaves look good except the edges are curling up slightly. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

yeah the leaf curl is heat stress/light stress i think but the yellowing leaves that you have falling off i dont think thats anything to worry about

Yeah I'd go with heat or light stress, the leaves curl in like that to take in less light.

The lights are pretty far away. I would say a foot or more but I'm not sure of the exact distance and I can't check because they are in the dark right now. Yesterday they had grown so much that they were touching the lights and I had to move them so maybe it's from that. But as for the yellow leaves on the bottom I'm just really concerned because it's happening to both of my large plants which leads me to believe that maybe the underneath isn't getting enough light but I'm not an expert so I don't really know. I just know that it doesn't seem like much light is reaching the under part. Also I'm concerned about the soil I'm using since I'm using Miracle grow since that's all I could find and I've heard bad things about it. I'm just wondering if maybe they are being overloaded with nutrients or there's not enough of a certain nutrient. This is my first grow and I'm not really 100% sure of what I am doing :)

Bottom leaves like that die. It happens often. I use MG, and MG fert. People can talk trash about it and taste ect but I honestly think I get the same results as I did running to 7 stores getting expensive nutes and mixing soils and blah blah. Anyway. If they grew high enough to touch the lights then it probably did get over heated, and if that's black garbage bag around them then that black is gonna soak up and radiate heat. If I were you I'd go to walmart, get a couple of mylar camping blankets in the camping isle and put them around it. That'll give your lower leaves some light too. If you think lights a problem, get a cheap clam lamp, twist off the metal part, get a small 24W CFL and put it between them.

The curling of the leaf tips is Mg deficiency. This often happens with bottled, R/O, very soft or distilled water. To cure it, get some Epsom Salts and a teaspoon per gal added when you water.
The yellowing & dying leaves could easily be due to low light issues. If the plant is getting no benefit from them and they are not photosynthesising, the plant will let them die. Pull them off (they should fall off easily)
MG soil is not good for MJ. When buying soil, go for something that is NOT pre-nuted (why would you buy soil that has nutrients formulated for flowers like roses or carnations in it? MAD) And if you see "moisture control" on the packet, leave it on the shelf. There are plenty of inexpensive nutrients out there and topsoil is MUCH cheaper than pre-nuted garbage so buy topsoil.
If you only have a small area, mylar from your local growsop will be cheaper than a camping blanket. Better still, if you have flat white paint, use that, it is more reflective than most people think.

The funny thing about miracle grow soil, and people talkin shit about it, it always seems to come from the people who've never even used the stuff...Im using MG organic soil and shits growing just fine. Everyone says oh miracle grows got nutes in it so it burns your plants, then they come back n say use Fox Farms Ocean Forrest.... <-- that shits got nutes in it too...just stick with what your doin man, your plants look fine

Underwater/ maybe a little heat stress

whats your water schedule.

move the lights up a bit and try to make your room have a higher humidity.

Magnesium deficiency is the curl of the leaves... Get Epsom salt and add alittle to your feeding, you could up your nutes just a hair and work on your water schedule, as looking at the plant the soil is definitely dry, depending on conditions and lighting, watering every 2-3 days or when top of soil gets dry.

if growing in tent etc its lack of light n normal in that situation.
the leaves higher up is heat and/or wind burn maybe

Thanks for all the help. I went out and bought some light sockets and I'm going to wire them in today and I still need to get some Epsom Salt. The plants are looking nice and healthy today, the leaves aren't curling up anymore so hopefully that issue is taken care of.
