Brown streaks on lower leaves

So this is my first post on this website but my plant is having some problems. This is my second grow but the first one that has made it passed a seedling.

About:
Strain: It's an autoflower Fem. Advanced Biodiesel Mass.
Indoor grow.
Under 5 23 watt cfls.
Soil (FFOF) No nutrients added so far.
3 1/2 week old plant.
Watered with Distilled water only (Not PH tested).
The temps occasionally go into the mid 80's now, but used to go much higher when it was younger.

These spots were originally light green and have been on the plant since the leaf started forming but they are now turning brown and appear to be dying. The light green spots are also appearing on another bottom leaf of the plant and I am scared they will start to turn brown too. The rest of the plant appears completely healthy but looks small/underdeveloped for its age.

EDIT: The third picture is the best to see the spots.

Your PH is off. Buy a good PH meter. Flush the plant and test the water draining out of the plant. Then give a full watering with properly ph'd water and light nutrients. PH AFTER adding the nutrients (duh)

Okay thanks for the quick reply. Do I need to buy a PH meter or can I use those strips that people use to test aquarium water?

Also I wasnt sure what flushing was so I looked it up and I am still a little confused.. Do I just run a lot of water through the soil?

Yeah, you just run a lot of water through the soil then check the water that drains out the bottom. You can use strips but it's better to buy a ph meter, you'll be doing a lot of testing and they are like $10 on ebay.

Okay I will do that as soon as my nutrients come in the mail... The plant has had these spots for like a week or two so I'd assume that it would be okay to wait like 2 days right?

for your next grow buy a good peat based potting soil with dolomite added and you'll never have to worry about ph again. i buy mine from a local ornamental nurser/garden center. $10 bucks for 40 lbs. GL

All is not lost dude. It's way early and the plant is small.

If you have the cash, and your serious about doing this, I would invest in a decent PH meter. The $10 Milwaukee meters are junk..I mean they work but the constantly drift so pick up a bottle of PH calibration solution. It's like 8 or 9 bucks and will last a long time.

All these plants need is lots of light, the correct environment and good balance nutrition to yield well. Forget about all the boosters and crap. Kelp extract, beneficial bacteria and good nutes will go farther to increase yields than most of that stuff will.

Cheers.

I figured I'd update the thread for anyone who is interested. I bought a PH meter and discovered my water was at about 6.5 and my soil was at about 5.5-6 so overall the grow was too acidic. I bought PH up to use in my next watering but because I watered yesterday I'll to wait until at least tomorrow to water again (definitely don't want to cause anymore problems). In the meantime I read about dolomite lime stabilizing PH in soil grows, so I went ahead and purchased a 40lb bag (which was only $5 at home depot) and top dressed the soil with a TBSP per gallon. I'll post another update on saturday/sunday to see how everything works out. Hopefully the spots will stop spreading.

You could probably flush them now and not hurt them. Actually the sooner you get the PH up the better. Just let them dry out nice before you water again. Common noob mistake to overwater. I usually wait till my young plants just start loosing turgor pressure then water.

Okay will flush tomorrow.. I was just worried that when you flush autos (or any type of plant) doesn't it strip nutrients from the soil? I only planned on using molasses and tiger bloom for the grow and would prefer not to add anything else unless it's needed. I also don't plant to stress the plant. You seem to believe that it won't harm the plant so, unless I see otherwise posted tomorrow, I'll do a flush tomorrow.
