Bubbleponic Newb....

Hey guys,

New to this but after digging around enough (thanks to forums like this) I was able to build a small 2 pot bubbleponic system. My first grow will be LowBerry (12"-18" & 30-50gram yield) strain from DutchBreed. I designed this system to have 2 plants rotating ( new one every 5 weeks will mature) and since the strain is an autoseeding female...I get to skip the veg state and right to flowering. It will be surrounded by some silver car window shades and have 1 exhaust fan to pull the heat out. I'm using a 250w lamp (limited budget) @ 18/6 (more time maybe?).

Any opinions is very welcome.

Hey wassup, I had a timer like that. The push/pull pins.
Come to find out, the shit failed and started randomly turning on during night cycle and off during the light cycle.
And no, it wasn't the pins in the wrong position.
Even the bypass switch doesnt work now, actually it doesnt even have an off cycle now...it's just a pretty wall socket
Probably the reason one of my plants had to come down :wall:

I had bad luck with that bubbler you are using. I switched to the 12 inch ones at walmart. they have blue rock encased in blue plastic. Durable and lots of bubbles.SO far lookin good

Thanks for the info RikoSuave55...the rubbery cover made me nervous but it looks like it can cover so much area...I just picked a 12" air stone as a backup.

Hey pwizzle, I have a few aquariums in the house and have a few different timers around...that was an impulse buy at IKEA one day for $2......get what u pay for huh!

Well there was a big update yesterday....Wondering thru WalMart and saw the coolest grow box...so I went for it.

Sterilite 2 Door Cabinet....perfect $30
Sterilite 2 gallon container $5
Flor Glow Lamp 75w $12
Reptile Lamp 150w $20
Fan $8
Silver reflective car shades $6
Air Pump/8"stone and Bubblewand $30
Velcro tape for reflector siding $6
Timer (IKEA impulse buy) $2
Dual 120mm fans (from a server rack) FREE (exhaust - friends with needs are friends indeed)
Bagseeds FREE (well almost - hoping I can improve on the dirt weed)

Not bad for around $120.....will make it back on the first grow

I need to thank you guys for your help...been reading a lot and I have a plan. LOL
Going to flower a little early and do the LST training to reduce total height of plant in the box.
As the budget affords I will be getting an LED light.

Now I just need a few willing females (don't we all) and I be ready.
I germinated a few seeds and one came up. Grew 6" in 2 days once in the bubbleponics w/out any nutes just distilled water.
Found a great video for making low PH water on YouTube "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZDqyAgA8DU"

A few pics of the box....will start a grow journal soon.

Yeah in the newer pictures I have already spray painted the base black. I noticed a green tint in the water during my dry run and found it mentioned in a few post.
Thanks for the heads up.

How's the box look?

Place your air pump higher than your system. Check your PH every few days. Dont add nutes yet and you'll be fine.

Thanks for the info cassinfo... but there have been updates I need to post here. And you were absolutely correct about PH and nutes.

I got some PH Down and got my water down to 5.5 - 6.0 ( hard to tell with aquarium kit ) but I might have added toooooo much. Since the plant was 14 days old I added some nutes at about 75% and the combination fried my little ones.

I just made a trip to Lowes and got a vanity light fixture and 3 40w 2700K CFL's to finish up my box. The 150w reptile light was way to hot to manage the heat inside the box and might have contributed to the death of the little ones.
Hooked up a fan controller to my monster computer rack fan (exhaust), that and the CFL's fixed the heat issue immediately.

I have 2 cuttings coming from a friends female...not sure of the strain but it was some 3-4 hit shit to begin with.

Spent a few hours coming up with a good formula for the PH Down and my tap water. 5ml per gallon seems to get it down to 6.0...probably used 3 times that my first try. ( Note to self...don't fuck with the ladies while stoned..)

So when the clones get here...(he will get them to the rooting stage in his room) all I need to do is move them to my pots keeping the root close to the bottom...keep water an inch or so below and no nutes for a few weeks @ 18/6 lights???

New pics coming soon.

You have a nice set up. Here is a suggestion. Instead of using an aquarium pH test kit, get one that was designed for hydroponics. I made that mistake too and my plants suffered because of it. Here is a fairly inexpensive one that works great.

http://cgi.ebay.com/GENERAL-HYDROPONICS-PH-UP-DOWN-TEST-CONTROL-KIT-8-oz-/180492155928?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Fertilizer_Soil_Amendments&hash=item2a062bbc18

I am using the same one. Other than that you have addressed all the problems. Move lights closer, paint the rez black to stop algae from growing. Good luck with your grow.

Peace and positive energy to you
