Bucket in the tree

How in the world in your plant is up in a tree are you going to be able to inspect to bugs and other damage unless you haul your butt up there and check it out constantly? Then you are leaving a trail. Will you ph balance all water before adding?

I have been wondering if anyone has ever tried this. Make a flat surface with maybe some plywood. nail it up high in a very green and leafy tree and place a heavy wind efficient bucket or one you can nail through on the platform paralell to the ground and grow right there. It would be very hard to spot by people not aware of any plant there. who would think of it being in a tree. I think this would work excellent and matbe the plant will respon to the light better. ANY SUGGESTIONS OR COMMENTS?
i have a mate in far north queensland who grows in the mangroves,he puts grow bags up in the growth, with a mix of god knows what, and he has to go out in a small runabout boat,to check on them,.
personally there are alot of nasty critters live in places like that ,crocs, snakes and all kinds of creepie crawlies so fuck that, and he uses the water if he needs from the water there, adds no more to them than what he put in the first place, and he reckons he gets some nutes from all of the fish shit etc in there,it is a long way from where i live, and it would be full of mozzies, but not a single rip off,or bust and he has done this for many years.
it must work as he just bought a brand new harley??.
but i am not into saltwater crocs that would spin me out abit i think, plus as i dont live near that kind of shit cant really say,i know he takes a shotgun in case of crocs?i think snakes is enough for me,and there is plenty of those fuckers where i do my outdoor growing, dont like them myself but it is what you have here, so i dont bother them if i see them ,and vice versa.
i would have thought humidity, and bugs would be an issue, but he seems to do o.k,not my idea of fun things to do before i pop off though:peace:p.s i think your tree idea is safer

That is an incredably creative idea!!
Id try a biodegratble bag with the soil and plant, then just twine the bag with string into the branches....buckets r a dead ringer, but the bag is camoflged with the tree...
I love tree climbin!...and its a great deterant for sticky fingaz...
Cheers!

I have a few old strap on hunting stands.... Could place them 30 or 40 foot in a tree.... Buckets could sit nicely on the stands...wrap the buckets in burlap so the dont look so obvious if someone did look up...

ummmm..... hi fdd :)

you are a lucky FOOK...

I agree that watching your plants is KEY (very very very important, cornerstone of growing)...

but so many people live in areas with fooked up pH... a pH test is vital for MOST indoor growers.. also a cornerstone to being a great grower! :hump:

just test it once or twice a year or filter your water
You can buy a under the sink filter for 30 bucks
that usually a pretty nuetral ph and i just moved from an old ass townhouse to new 00s house
I had a filter in both I think i was 6.7 last i checked
i check my dirt more than my water and only when my plants show stress
even then every time its been rootlock not ph
If you do Hydro then I am out of my depth

I was considering doing just that working out a system and buying a tinny, I am mid Qld though so only croc sightings no actual crocs, snakes don't scare me I stood on a 3m carpy not a few weeks back they can be vicious but are more scared of you than you are of them, the giant goannas are a whole different story, I swear some one injected them with komodo dragon genes they are humungous.

This is an old idea that has been tried by many. I have even seen news reports of cops busting plants in trees.
Really your best bet is just finding a series very secluded places and putting some girls in the ground and in pots in various places.
Try not to put more than 3 plants in any one place.
I like to find dead trees and put a potted plant right at the base of it so it somewhat hides it from helicopters.
Like everyone said, trying to inspect, water, and feed your girls will be hell if you have to climb a tree every time.
And just think about it. It only takes one person to see you up in a tree fiddling with a plant for you to get busted. If your just hiking in the woods you seem perfectly legit, as long as you dress the part and not like a ninja.
