Buddy with very similar setup has WAY higher leaf to calyx ratio than I do using same cuts??

Hi everyone!

As per the title, my buddy is running a very similar setup to me and we're running exactly the same clones, nutrients and medium.

He's got a 1.2m tent with 400W+ quantum boards (same as me), 150mm extraction, and we're both running the same nutrient line, medium and the same clones.
Yet all of his plants are growing way more leafy smaller buds compared to mine

anyone ran into this issue and figured it out??

I’m having the same issue. I’m getting more leaf than bracts. I think my issue is too much nutes and also I think they were reveg due to light interruption. I don’t know exactly. Also I did have really high humidity; like 70% high. Lol. And light was pretty close, like 6” close.

I'd guess that his feeding/watering practices are not up to your level. Either under/overwatering or not checking/adjusting pH and EC.
Be helpful to know what medium and nutrients you guys are using.
We're out in South Africa, using a locally made salt 3 part nute. He tries to replicate my grows almost exactly, we're on the same watering schedule, same nutrient dosages, same medium (70/30 coco/perl), with the same cuts, both under quantum boards, we're both in tents.

Our grows are almost identical, yet he is achieving way different results to me.

How about topping and training? Ask yourself if the grows really are identical, same distance to light, same # of primary grow sites, same defoliation or lack thereof, etc. Those things have a huge impact on bud development. There are a lot of small touches that probably make your grows different.

Without a doubt, you're right! There are small differences in our grows, but I honestly don't think that would make such a huge difference tbh.

I am getting respectable yields and he's pulling a few grams a plant.. Something else is wrong here.

what kind of medium would that be?

your friends plants leave indicate a minor issues whereas yours are fully healthy
We're using 70/30 coco perlite, the pic he sent was just before harvest. My comparison pic was from week 6-7, the difference in the two is what I'm trying to show.
