BUDS turned black

My buddy had to hack down his outdoor plant ,and he gave me this.. i believe it was in paper bag for a few days then put in dark closet in open jar...for a week or so...the buds were nice fresh and green before they were cut off..Is this worth keeping or should I throw out?

the entire bud was green when it was placed to dry? and your positive its black and not purple? does it have a moldy smell? i cant think of anything else that would make it turn black.

well. its more like a very very dark green brown...buds were lightish green before clipped...pictures posted capture the current color well.. they smell more like hay or oregano.. vs the pungent skunky smell they had when they were growing.. no moldy or mildew scent...my only concern is.. that if its some kind of mold or something...I will just get rid of.. but if this is normal...i will keep.. have tried it and does the job well

it really doesnt look like mold in the pics. im not really sure what would cause it to turn color like that tho. i havent ever had any to change that dramatically in color. the hay/oregano smell could be from chopping early. maybe someone else around here will have seen this before

sorry i wasnt more help lol mold is what i was thinking, but the pics just doesnt look like mold to me. it looks like the plant just changed color but ive never seen one change that much after being chopped so im stumped haha

I wouldn't smoke it, looks pretty nasty IMO even if it was a purple strain...

As others have said, I wouldn't smoke that, or turn it into anything else for that matter. I would just toss it and forget about it. Sorry about the loss man.

I grow shaman from time to time and they said to put trimmed (fresh) buds right into a paper bag into the fridge over night to really pronounce the purple more. So I did and it works.
Point being, maybe during drying and curing it was colder and had the same effect. Its an idea

give that bud to the homeless guy that lives under the bridge, he will enjoy it and it wont be wasted. i dont smoke bud like that.

So how early did he cut that thing down? I see stems and leaves, but not really much bud to speak of. I like the idea of giving it to the homeless guy, it would be interesting to see his response, and whether he even wanted to smoke it.....

That's a fungus infection. There was a spore somewhere on the plant when it went into the jars and it was probably too damp when it went in...

Fungus can wipe out an entire live crop in a short time and can certainly devastate an entire cure...

throw it away don't smoke, mold !, I would roll it up and pass it to your buddy that gave you garbage let him get sick

I actaully had a whole pound of that shit, it's like super dark purple that it looks black.. I've smoked it, It actaully had seeds in it, dime a dozen. I planted every seed. Unfortunelty there was so many plants I couldn't remember where most of them were, well some males were hiding on pollinated the females of this mysterious purple/black weed. The pound had purple and black and green nugs... The seeds that sprouted have really dark nugs and hairs. And most branches are bright green. So I smoked that shit you have and I sold a whole pound of it within a week. No one died or got sick. (kept all the seeds) about 100-300 good good seeds.

They were decent big nugs too, yours look very very skimpy though and brown.. Mine wasn't brown

I grow herbs of all kinds & found when I dry them too quickly w/too much heat, the herbs turn dark ... just a thought.

There are a lot of strains that can turn that colour around these days.
The important thing is, how does it smell? How does it taste? If you can't see or smell mould then it should be ok.

its mold just destroy it
