Hey sub, and RIU, Just popped some Querkles and want to get some SS cooking but here's my prob. All shops around my area are infested with gnats, fruit flies its a problem. Seems like only places that don't have this problem are places like Menards, Lowes, or Walmart even. So with this being said what could work for your base soil? I saw menards had pro-mix organic. Seems to be the only decent one Ive seen so far.

There is a place I know that carries HF that is clean could I mix all HF as my base?

Just yesterday I went to store and every bag of every brand I lifted up and looked at there was hundreds of these bastards.....I don't know how they can sell that shit.

water in some pure BTI (not mosquito dunks) 4 TBS per gal, drench soil.
i have been dealing with them for a while from roots products, this stuff works. and is great to have on hand as a preventative. because you have to do preventative maintenance....took me years to learn this, but once you do you wont see bugs again.

but yea dont buy stuff that has visiable bugs. coco works great as a base and is pretty clean.

Thanks oldschool! I haven't heard of that stuff yet. Yes coco was thinking of this also down the line just never heard of anybody doing it. But also thought coco has nothing in it's just coco, prob would have to look into amending more so than with reg. base soil. If you know best way to use coco for SS soil let me know. THanks.

If you cant master some gnats then the rest of this hobby is going to kick your butt :)

I use predatory nematodes and there are no gnats in my grow areas.

All the soil this time of year has gnats all the soil companies use the same shipping company so its cross contamination.

Thank you Sub..........I have dealt with gnats before(soil I bought but didn't use but they still went everywhere). Thanks for the info on the pred. nematodes I will get some if needed for sure.
And I'm tickled pink with u responding you are the master of cannabis.

I know about cooking soil but ya dannyboy I think also cooking would not be good for the living organisms in soil. But I could be wrong.
And thanks whitebuffalo I will check it out.
Thanks for the help and anybody else has something to say please feel free.

I've been growing for seven years and have encountered almost every possible growroom nightmare-gnats,spidermites,whiteflies,powdery mildew, bud mold, you name it. Each time doom visited, I got on the internet and researched the problem-read many different "cures"-a few seemed to actually work :)
The best cure that I have used for fungus gnats(and every other growroom bug for that matter) is a derivative of neem oil, available as Azatrol or Azamax. I use this as a soil drench once every 10 days or so-I just add a half teaspoon per gallon of fresh water during regular watering. The label calls for a whole tablespoon, but a half seems to do the trick. I used to have a massive fungus gnat population-they are completely gone. As a spray, this stuff wipes out spider mites lickety split-no joke, it really wipes them out!
Currently growing Chernobyl(5 females out of 5 seeds!),Vortex,Ace of Spades,Agent Orange,Jacks Cleaner2,and Jack the Ripper-all doing fantastic!!
Big thanks to Subcool and company!!!

Rep to you my friend! Azatrol or Azamax using as a drench , I will put this in my memory bank.
I had some luck and bags that I bought didn't have bugs. I made hydro shop get soil from a fresh wrapped pallet. Because there whole store was swarming with gnats.

Thanks for the rep friend! I meant to say that I use 1/2 TABLESPOON per gallon-though if the problem is real bad start off with a whole tablespoon and then down to half for maintenance.
Chernobyl flowering is up to 63 inches tall-gonna be alot of bud!!!!
Plushberry and Pandoras Box in the mail!!
