I stumbled across this giant net pot lid in my local store and was told about people building bubbler tubs out of them, particularly in Birmingham and its been named the Birmingham bastard lol.
So I'm making my own 1
Consisting of:

1x extra large net pot 250mm x 180mm
1x 90ltr tub
1x sheet of corex(Don't know how its spelt)
1x wooden stick for broom

I might be adding a pump inside for drainage and have a pip coming out of the corex not sure yet, all ideas welcome

When growing any hydro plant factor in the ratios. Begin with plant size. You can easily grow up to a 6ft bushy plant in a 6" net pot. What you then need to account for is size of root-ball (RB)> root chamber (pod). I have seen many huge RBs, but don't get them, probably my technique is more efficient, thus plant does not seek to make overly large RBs.

Check out my 21 Century thread for ideas (hopefully, I fixed the broken link)

Agreed I too get big plants from 6" net pots how ever I'm aiming for a very big plant as I Don't have the restriction of a tent these are my aqua farms currently runningIMG-20130424-00105.jpgIMG-20130424-00106.jpg I love the way these grow plants, these were begged for 8 wks and are on day 2 of flower in pic

OK. Keep in mind a very big plant will get very heavy throughout flowering stage. Make sure the pod is heavy enough to support it and not topple.

I still dont get it? Whats the pvc (oh thats like a wooden dowl?) for? And that net bucket is like the same height as the tub, doesn't make for much room for the roots to get air if you're planning on filling up most of the res. Maybe I am just misunderstanding.

I'm trying to take an idea given to me and make my own versoin. Newcs I was thinking the same thing about space for the roots, I Don't like it. I saw a bigger tub in grow shop £59 hmmm. Another option I've found is a 63ltr fermenting bucket with lid. It is quite slot wider than the net pot it self and taller than the tub only draw back is its white.

We have Dollar Stores and Big Lots here, where you can buy 20-30-50g plastic garbage cans for <~ $10. You can put some bricks in the bottom to stabilize. Include a large bulkhead/drain fitting to expedite changing out nutes. Once plants have reached maturity they consume more of the nutes, so what's left is fairly spent. I replenish ~ every 7 days. You don't need to fill it, BUT, you need to make sure you have powerful air pump (45L/M+) with big air stone/s
